When I did a lot on the BCC forum I just copied the events over, or just used a thread to hold the recurring instances
Like with Hills/Chaingang etc.
Or do you want to have individual events for each weekly event, wouldn't that flood the forum at bit?

Taking a step back, what I'm really after is an outcome of showing all club events in some kind of calendar.
So the equivalent of https://www.lfgss.com/search/?type=event&eventAfter=0&sort=oldest does exactly that for one-off events...
but weekly chaingang/hills/clubrun don't appear, because to do so you'd need to create each one individually. Which as you say would flood the forum.
If there was a magical way of creating /editing a Microcosm event once, but it occuring in the view linked above multiple times, similar in Outlook, Google Calendar, etc, that would be ideal 😉
One option would be to use Google Calendar or similar, but unless we put the recurring weekly events in there, and had an automatic way of pulling in a feed of all the Microcosm events,we'd either have:
two calendars to look at instead of one, which doesn't achieve the desired outcome
unsustainable duplication of work, manual copy and paste etc
if we used GCal only - lose all the features and forum integration of Microcosm events. Which doesn't seem sensible at all.
So, right now I'm wondering if there is/could be an easy way of auto-populating a GCal with the one off events from Microcosm...
...and if there isn't, then keep status quo, i.e. weekly events are each handled in a regular thread. As they are on LFGSS.

That one
The first one sounds unnecessarily complicated to me, but I am a Luddite
Also who in BCC wants this, or it just an exercise to see if it can be done, because you want to know if it can be done?
I just wonder if anyone in BCC really cares about having a calendar of events given that most people know the routines/they are easy to get into the swing of if you are new and any big/one off events are publicised well on the forum, in the normal way?
This type of opinion is probably why I no longer run the club, so by all means just ignore me :)

It's a quick investigation to see if it can be done reasonably easily and sustainably.
I think the simple answer is no, stay with what we have. Maybe on the side I'll look at the API docs on my next long train journey to Scotland...

No idea what API docs are
But do know what a long train journey to Scotland is, as I type from my commute
BMT is aware FYI

Details on how a coder could extend Microcosm themselves e.g get events out to somewhere else
do know what a long train journey to Scotland is
I know; I'm on one now; we discussed it briefly on the one (two?) Outliers hills I turned up to I think ;-)
Also, we have swappped notes on bike capacity of LNER Azumas... -

So much train chat in my life, I forget who I have talked to about it...
Hopefully see you on hills again soon matey!
Hi. I realise that the 'create event' dialog does not allow this, and am wondering if there is any other way, e.g. via API?
I'm only semi-technical, so I guess I'm wondering if it's (a) been done before by some means (b) is feasible thus worth investigating further, e.g. by someone more technical?
If it is relevant, I'm asking about the Brixton CC instance.
Thanks.
