  • Question on PHD about waterproofing and pack size, so posting here too:

    It's not waterproof but water resistant, with a DWR coating. I'd using it in light to heavy rain for short to medium periods, but not in all day sustained rain. The seams are not sealed. It's an incredible jacket.

    It packs down to maybe half a football and weights 400g inc. hood.

(weight: 40 gsm). Note: unlike some other so-called 'proofed' fabrics, Ultrashell does not rely solely on a DWR (durable water repellent) coating. Although it has a DWR coating, more importantly it has a breathable and permanent PU coating applied on the underside of the fabric that cannot be abraded through daily use.
