I realise they're all different... And probably all very rare in that this one was the only red pipmade in 77 and this one has a 9 instead of 6.
But I guess if you're that niche, you're that niche....

I wonder how many ever get a natural lume charge .
It’s a shame they get to worth so much they probably never get worn , like all rare collectibles I guess .
But in the same way people do thrash their classic Ferrari’s and Maserati at Goodwood , I wonder if they ever take their 1/2m submariners diving .
I’m thinking not -

Collecting is a peculiar hobby. And this is serious collecting.

And this is serious hoarding

I understand this more than I understand people collecting sneakers.

Do sneaker collectors buy sizes that wouldn’t fit ?
Always wondered -

Good question.
I've been to a room once at someones house, where there were quite a few types of running shoes with various sizes - all brand new. I don't think it was a collection but rather a convenience for the guests. To me just a spare shoe room is an abstraction.

I still have a sneaker collection worth £000's and they're like a fucking albatross around my neck. I pay nearly £100 a month to store the things, never wear them, can't face selling them and dealing with the pricks.
I wonder if the watch dudes every get to this state?

Anyone wants a vintage Seiko before it goes to eBay? Comes on a black perlon strap and the leather from the picture although that has split near the buckle - I don't know if fixable. £75 posted to UK.

Do they go up in value by £100 a month or more?
People collect stamps for a reason I guess; easy and space efficient to store. Watches are kinda similar in that respect so they probably don't feel like a burden although I'd imagine the insurance bills are somewhat spicy.

5513 Submariners, pointed crown guards and explorer style dials. Mil subs have very distinctive sword hands and will set you back £350k each. Good article on Hoodwinkee about refs - https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/rolex-submariner-reference-points
