There is no guarantee Cisco and others don't have backdoors either. The argument that they are "friends" well...did the UK not spy on Germany some time ago?
Huawei's kit was already checked by a government UK security group.
Instead of establishing baselines for all kit, Trumpy decided to throw mud and see if it would stick. I don't think that is the way to go.
