Not the answer to your question but you could wrap some elastic netting around with the join at the top?

Actually that's incredibly helpful - I've tried plenty of search terms, but not "elastic netting", and that's thrown up some useful links. Will try and bodge something out of this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07CSPDTR6/

I'd like to knock together some sort of "snack hammock" to make use of the space between my aerobars and to have food within easy reach. Anyone aware of anything like this out there?
