27.5 boost wheelset. 12x148 / 15x110
You could do a lot worse than these
https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mavic-e-xa-elite-mtb-wheelset/rp-prod190623
Unless you are gonna use a really big tyre
27.5 x 2.6" tyres
Bugger. Just use 2.35s like normal people.

Ha. It's for a teenager. Plus tyres are cool. Teenagers care about cool

What frame? I'm curious, will there be a CP thread?
(I'm potentially doing a similar build soon) -
• #7
Marin San Quentin. Probably no CP thread because I will be collecting bits but not building it. Want to give it to him as a box of parts and show him how to build it himself

No closer to finding fork or wheels. Nothing on ebay at the moment stands out at me as being quality/wide enough/looked after.
None available on here?I was hoping to spend roughly 150 on wheels, 150 on forks.
Hope hubs would be nice but I know that's pushing the budget. -

And a saddle probably too.
Something by WTB? Comfy in normal clothes, squishy etc -

Some RS stuff on Sport Pursuit (spits)

Dunno if it’s any better value than CrC to be fair

I’ll watch em cheers. Maybe a touch narrow though

Crossmax is the level of hench below the XA I linked to above.

Wheels are wheels right? Those mavics are the E-XA but I can’t think of a reason why wheels need to be E bike specific other than added strength. They’re 25mm wide with a recommended max tyre of 2.5”. I’m sure they’d be OK with a 2.6” when there’s a 5ft 14 year old riding them.
Might go for them as that price seems to be quite severely lower than RRP which makes me think they’re probably better than anything that’s £180 full price -
• #23
Yeah. I suspect they are no different to the Elite wheelset.
I’ve got the elite wheelset on my habit and they’ve been trouble free and an improvement on the stock wtb wheels. Paid £180 for the pair with tyres.

Seems good if you can find hubs?

Hi all
Bought a long slack flickable etc hardtail frame for my 14 year old nephew. I'm after the rest.
All as good condition as possible, hoping for it to look near new.
27.5 boost wheel 12x148
27.5 x 2.6-2.8" tyres
11 or 12 speed groupset
30.9mm dropper, stealth routing. Annoyingly the one I have spare is 31.6.
