• so doesn't seem worth it?

No experience of a 7, but I replaced the screen on a 4s which requires removing the battery. Looking at ifix the battery design is similar.

I wouldn't recommend replacing a screen unless you're brassic or love that sort of stuff, but removing the battery is simple.

The one thing to factor is the cost of a decent set of screwdrivers if you don't have them. The free ones in the kit I got were rubbish and the chrome(?) plating on the first set I bought from a shop was too thick rendering them unusable, so I took them back and got a more expensive set. Obviously good tools are an investment.

No surprise, but there are lots of good cheap android options. Though you'll probably need to spend ~£200 for a decent camera which still may not produce as good pic - so either way a new battery is cheaper.

  • Hmm. I got to the steps where you have to open the screen like a book and then saw all the connectors / ribbons I could fuck up.

I've already worked on my 4s but that seemed simpler. Part of me wants to give it a go but part of me doesn't want to run to a shop afterwards to have them fix my mistake and I'll end up with a bigger bill :p
