  • I don't think switching them to a Mac when they're old and have been using Windows for 30 years because it's more convenient for you makes much sense, they'll have to learn a whole new OS.

    A Chromebook won't need any maintenance and everything is switching to thin client anyway. And there are some nice Chromebooks around hardware wise these days if that's the issue.

    I agree that 128Gb is enough.

    Have you considered an iPad?

  • For most people Chrome OS isn't really an OS though. It's just basically using a browser, the subset of the OS which is what most people actually require.

    If they're already using Chrome they won't need to learn anything, if they're using a different browser then it will be almost identical in function to Chrome and a very minor change.

    Nearly everything everyone does on a computer is in a browser these days. If they actually need to run software other than a browser then obviously a Chromebook won't work.
