  • Commit fully and get the drill out

  • The only way I would like to do it is full internal which would require a new fork, an ahead setup and drilling. Using the hole in the BB would also be the only option to not drill in the frame.

    Or full retard eTAP AXS.

  • I was planning on running it all external, I’ve got the older 6780 group with 6880 mechs and external battery.

Cables from shifters meet at junction box A (attaches to front brake cable outer) and become one cable than would run through the NDS gear shifter cover with barrel adjuster removed, cable meets junction box B under BB shell (in place of cable guide) and cables run up behind BB between chain stays to battery in second bottle cage location and to front mech and one cable runs along drive side chain stay, through cable guide (maybe with some gromit as a wedge) to rear mech... 👍🏻👍🏻

Doubt an internal battery would fit in the 25mm seatpost, and the fork is full carbon so won’t be messing with it... swapped out original forks as they had crossed threads and these are spare at the moment.

  • Make a thread for it in CP!

  • Are you going to ride it with the seatpost that much out of the frame??

  • No, it’s like that to remind me to find a seatpost binder bolt...

@LeMesjeu will do if I go ahead with it!

  • Ha, ok. I see. I believe it would have ripped the seat cluster riding it that high. ;-)

  • Have you ridden that frame with another set-up, or any other Alan?

  • I’ve ridden a Peugeot badged bonded al frame, and a Vitus. I also had a beauty of an Alan super record in black years ago but never built it and had to sell it due to a house move... I hate letting frames go that I’ve not ridden and so I want to get this on the road before admitting it’s a wet noodle etc... I’m basically building it with stuff I want to keep hold of so I can clear out the garage...

    TL;DR - no...

  • it’s a wet noodle

I don't know how they ride, but I do wonder if it's worth getting the money gun out, that's all. If it works for you then by all means have fun putting it all together with expensive parts. I'm all for MGOOF in general.

  • Yeah I hear you, money’s already been spent on a burgeoning parts bin so no additional cash required for this, save bartape and brake cables... these are the spares I want to keep for when something nice pops up in the classifieds... 👍🏻

  • Shameless crosspost from CP: finished this one today - Martelly (Belgian frame from Martens - who builds frames for Jaegher at the moment) with a Shimano R7000 105 group and Vision wheels. Deda Piega bars are 26.0mm and compact shaped so make a nice combination with quill stems.

  • Road version of the famous Girvin Flexstem.

    ;-)

  • Vertically compliant.

  • Anyone spied these Genetic stems before?

  • That looks like a @Spotter special

  • Velo Orange Tall-Stack

  • I have used them they're identical to the VO ones

  • Edit- Ah I see, Have looked them up and they seem decent.. might buy one cheap if the opportunity arises.

  • Just rebuilt my commuter bike.
Vitus ZX1 from '90s, Xentis Mark1 from '00s, recovered Fizik Volta, Potenza 1x11 and plain black Sram Apex brakes and cranks.
