SOLD - Cannondale CX9 cross bike - 54cm

Posted on
  • One of the last aluminium Cannondales made in the US – beautiful welds!

Only the frame is from the original bike, everything else has been upgraded for racing over the years.

    Main spec:

    • Frame: Cannondale CX9 54cm (Stack: 565mm stack; Reach: 381mm reach. As a guide, I’m 5’10”)
    • Fork: Kinesis Pure CX full carbon
    • Drivetrain: 1x10 Dura Ace, Ultegra, XT
    • Brakes: Avid Shorty Ultimate with Kool Stop dual compound pads
    • Wheels: Bontrager Race TLR with Clement MXP tubeless ready tyres (currently set up with tubes)
    • Finishing kit: Cannondale C2 with SLR saddle

The frame has a few marks from racing, but is otherwise in very good order. Being picky, there's a very small and stable bit of aluminium oxidisation under the paint under the bottom bracket from years ago that hasn't developed into anything so I've left it as is.

I can include a pair of basic Shimano SPDs as seen in the photos if helpful.

Price: (£520) Now £390. Viewing in Tunbridge Wells or London League cross races. Collection also possible from Tunbridge Wells or Central London Mon-Fri daytime. Can also post within UK at cost.

    Rob

  • Price dropped to £500.

  • @mk1mark

  • Final price drop - £475. You could be racing on it this weekend!

  • You could be destroying it in the slop this weekend!

  • Nice frames these though, really liked the seat stay doobry.

  • It survived "The worst cyclocross event in the history of all things" (John Mullineux, 2014), so a bit of slop will be fine.

  • Hah I think I went to that one. Had a really twisty bit up by the farm buildings then descended in to waterlogged grass for the rest with hidden tyre wrecking potholes anywhere that was paved.

  • Dibs the forks if split. :)

  • That was Plumpton College. The worst cyclocross event in the history of all things was at Wivelsfield Farm. It was quite damp. I think @neilp went for a dip in the lake after his race to warm up.

  • Darn it - just what I'm after, but a size too big for little old me.

  • You’re right. Plumpton had been pretty horrendous, but Wivelsfield (the following season?) took it to another level. I’ve never spent so much of a race with the rims fully underwater.

  • Yes, Plumpton was 2013, Wivelsfield 2014. The same organiser too I think, Mark Tearle?

That was definitely the wettest race I've ever done. Another grim one was at the alternative Cyclopark course, Badlands, in 2017 I think? Was so cold after that, it took me days to warm up again.

  • Shame. Here's the geo chart, just in case.

  • I would be keen on the frame (w/o fork) if split..

  • Wrong time of year to be selling this I know, so a hefty two-day price drop to £390 plus postage before a Sunday trip to eBay.

  • That's a great deal for a race-ready bike.

  • Sold. Thanks to all those who got in touch. Rob
