The crazy thing is these were $300 watches! The Seiko store want £650 for the new Prospex version and IMO the cyclops isn’t an improvement - although the see through case back is nicer.

Seiko is taking their pricing upmarket across the board.
IIRC they had some market research commissioned that told them they were dead in the water at the lower end of the US market, and that they had to concentrate on their premium lines and move upmarket. The new Alpinist is a little bit fancier than the old one but it’s still an opportunity to hike the price. Bargain basement Seikos are going to be a thing of the past.

I said it before but the case finishing looks so good on these. Eyeing the new black and white dial ones too.
