that would be very neat, i don't see why it wouldn't work, when you buy the bar-end junction it comes with spares which seem to be made for this.

Got any photos? Pinarello definitely mount it here and an increasing number of other manufacturers.

Cannondale, BMC and others do this setup, it should be fine if the DT is deep enough to fit the bar end with the cables plugged

A normal junction box would be a lot cheaper, looks like it would fit fine. Isn't the bar end 4x the price?
-
• #3932
Don't want an under the stem option. Wonder if I could tuck the standard junction box inside the DT.
-
• #3933
The bar end junction box comes with a plate for storing it in downtubes with holes in frame like this.
-
• #3934
You misunderstand, I'm saying the normal (under the stem) junction box would likely fit in there.

From what I can see the bar end junction is only £10 more than the 3 port Junction A but the charging port and button would be flush with the frame and not hidden inside. Obviously if you already own a normal junction A it's different.

Good point, if flush with the frame it's a much more elegant solution.
Good luck with the build, A.

Cheers boss. The idea of the bar end junction was that I could fabricate a way to charge etc without having to pop off the downtube cover. You mean I could just tuck the standard junction box in that hole? I do already have the standard one so would definitely save some $. Maybe I can find a way to make the standard box poke out in the downtube and be accessible.

You could probably sell the standard one easily enough; I guess it's also down to how much time you want to spend on a hack/bodge.

Rather you than me :)
I'm cack handed enough with the standard components without adding power tools into the mix.

Indeed. My panel doesn't have any screw holes or a hole in the centre for the junction box.

What frameset is it?

parlee wont sell you anything that works?
-
• #3945
Parlee Altum. No aftermarket options.

The original face plate there is like a plastic clip from what I see online? I guess you could glue the normal one underneath it and just unclip when you need to check battery or charge it. Or speak to someone like Raceware who do 3D printing and see if they can help

Anyone got an R600 climbing shifter laying around they want to sell?

Found some bits and pieces while I was tidying up, don't know if this helps you at all. The square bit is a blanking plug for the plate, and it's the same size as the end of the junction box. I can't measure how long that is because I'd have to unwrap my handlebars. It looks as though the hole in your frame isn't wide enough.

I wonder if I could use one of those to mount the charging port in the FuelCell lid on the Shiv... ?

Awesome. Thanks.
My frame has a port in the downtube for cables. Wondering if I can bodge a junction box in there.
