  • Tom Pilgrim!

That looks fun, particularly the enduro line. But fuck those ladder drops.

  • Apparently. Mike has sold it. The dirt jumps/quarry has been flattened. Pedalhounds are still running an enduro later in the year on the trails, but I don't think it's open to the public anymore. Rumour has it that it's been bought by someone who wants to turn it into an offroad (Land Rover) experience place. Gutted as the kenevo was bought largely with PORC in mind.

Swinley skills area looks good. What's the deal with it? I heard its a tenner a month to be able to ride it. Or is it a pay as you go affair? I heard it was designed by the same people as BPW?

  • Various options - £10/£20/£30 month: https://www.swinleybikehub.com/coaching

  • Living in Kent, £10 a month looks more than enough. Session in the park followed by a ride round the trails on the xc bike a couple of times a month sounds ideal.

  • I heard it was designed by the same people as BPW?

Rowan Sorrell and his company designed the original Bike Hub stuff. Not sure about the jump/drop lines

  • On Sunday I rode a hill near Swansea, MTB trails. Conditions were cold, sunny, tacky and excellent as fuck. Only saw one other rider, had the trails to myself. Have never had so much fun there.

Rode Afan on Monday. Cold, good and icy.

Following photo is the view from the top of the hill in Swansea (this is actually the view from a summer or spring day some time ago. The photos I took Sunday were all blurred. But it looked almost exactly the same).

Badly listed rad-bargain for the 6ft+ rider?

Titanium LLS frame + XTR 1x11 + Fox 34 Kashima all for £1350

The build is a dog's dinner of anodising but that can be ignored

  • Good kit, good bike. Big reach in it in the XL, has a 1246mm wheelbase. Looks sorted. I'd find out if there is any way to transfer warranty over from the original owner, always worthwhile doing if that's possible.

  • Got to be said the seller sounds like trouble.

  • that's a purple bar and seat post away from perfection. Fork looks pretty old?

  • yeah, it's too big for me I think sadly
would be such a great bike with a dropper and some of the colourful bits taken off

  • The pictures in the listing make it look like it's come straight from the police auction

  • Just under £1k for this 29er 130mm trail bike from Vitus / CRC.

Looks more than fair for that money but obvs no dropper and 1x10.

  • looks like a Halfords version of TvH's Swarf

  • I don't think it's been hit with the ugly stick any more frequently / harshly than a lot of other similar bikes. At £1k aesthetics should not be your first consideration really, either, but yes you've got to like what you buy.

  • I meant it as a compliment not an insult!

  • Haha

  • With those tube bends it looks more like my old Kona

  • Impressive. Head on with a tree?

  • Annoyingly private sellers don't take B2W vouchers.

Anyway, I have since realised that the limit of £1,000 has been lifted from B2W purchases, and a £2,069 bike equates to £100 a month for 12 months, so I'm considering stretching to that to get something decent and moderately future proof. The cheapest carbon specialized epic HT or carbon trek procaliber is £2,250, which is slightly above my ideal budget, but I could get an alu specialized chisel comp for £1,500 or alu trek procaliber for £1,400.

Are there any other sub £2k bikes worth considering? Bike2work seems to have a lot of local and online shops, but planet x, ribble, canyon and sonder are not on the list.

  • I financed the RC 295, £750 down and then £166/month for 24 months - as it was interest free I couldn't see why I'd use my own money. Pace accept B2W.

  • Here's that Pink Bike geo experiment from a few posts back with a photoshopped Trust Performance linkage fork on for extra ridiculousnessnessness:
