with just a little of the expected heel rub that is inevitable with this kind of shoe when new.
Bend the shoes in half ten times (force it a lot) before each wear, until the heel rub stops. The shoes are very solidly made and the heel rub is the shoe not following the movement of your foot. If you pop into the Tricker's shop they'll do the same (so much it looks like they'll snap the shoes) when you got for a fitting.

Also my Loake Chester are getting close to need being replaced, pretty much my everyday shoe as they have rubber soles which for amount of walking I do in all weather is essential IMO

I've had a few pairs of Church's and been really happy. They fit my feet well and seems to be well constructed. Never had their rubber sole though, but can't see why it wouldn't be good

They are quite a price hike from the Loake 1880 range, I could get two pairs for the price of one church.
Anyone tried Bicester or Factory shops, I'd imagine pretty hit or miss...?

I'd imagine the quality goes up equally much
Checked ebay? I picked up all my Church's there for less than £100, all in really good condition

Those are a nice shape. Love those soles too. Very fun. Proper good shoes are always worth the investment.

Maybe I'll get the Loake's replaced, then try find the Church's cheaper. Size 12 can make this both a challenge and rewarding

Has anyone had experience of getting Dr Martens resoled? I was looking at Timpsons, they're pretty pricey, do they do a good job?
-
• #7118
Shit. Just seen how much those Church's are. When did Church's get so expensive?
-
• #7119
I thought with the more modern DMs they couldn’t be resoled.
If I was considering it I’d probably use an indie cobbler from a recommendation on here tbh, have a look back through the thread for suggestions.

My understanding is that as long as they've got real stitching (not moulded fake stitches) they can be done...

I know, hence my reservation!
I guess weak £. -

I wanted a pair of Churches. The £££ kinda threw me.

Assuming they're completely UK made with all UK made components, you'd hope the pound isn't affecting it. Prada probably trying to align Church's more with the Prada customer.
Nice. I’d personally prefer a rounder toe but that’s just me. Like loins says, perfectly good pair of black Derby’s.
