  • It's the cassette, it's almost always the cassette, they wear quicker than chainrings as there are usually less teeth, chain needed changing earlier than you did it if you wanted to get away without changing the cassette too. Get a new cassette, get a chain wear gauge and change it sooner next time.

  • Yeah, I know all this, I just haven’t had time at weekends to properly clean it due to family stuff and the weather has been so shit and wet this winter it hasn’t stood a chance :(

    I didn’t measure the last chain before binning it, but I can be sure it was worn out and had done a couple of thousand miles. The cassette has probably done about 8k so probably needs replacing by now anyway.

    The chainring will get replaced too, just trying to find a bargain.
