  • I don’t have the space or inclination to be doing any work on something myself to be honest. And getting it done somewhere makes it start to be less cheap.
Don’t need a bike, just wouldn’t mind something to hop on for a Sunday every now and then

  • From experience nothing is cheap and doesn't need work, and the reason is when looking at paying someone the bike isn't worthwhile might as well sell it on and get something else.

Thanks for keeping us updated @pdlouche

  • Hence my asking Chak. I know he paid next to nothing for his but has looked after it

  • But I guess even new bikes out the showroom are still in need of something doing, considering return rates and first service intervals and stuff.

After sitting on loads of bikes I’m really torn what style or power I should consider once the unrestricted license is in my pocket. Keep coming back to the low naked cruiser-cum-tracker style though. Probably just need to find the right street fighter, and move away from little-sized bikes.

The little bike really earned its space in the shed today though. Took off the windshield recently but already regretting it. I felt serious bobblehead being a few lengths behind a lorry at 50mph for 20 minutes, so sod that ever again.

Took it to the mechanics to ask what they thought the rattly noise was, apparently nothing major (valve or some other clearance). Then straight along the A420 from Swindon to Oxford, kept left. Stopped at the BP/M&S for hot chocolate then cut through to get on the A44/A34 and back to A420.

Pinned it as much as possible, got over 70mph downhill on the way. Speedo maxed out on the 80 mark down into Oxford so must have been a true 70mph.

Didn’t enjoy low sun in my eyes the whole way back, almost misjudged a tight right turn because of it. Must plan these things better to avoid it.

Still, considering the engine ran out of puff at a steady 60-ish, it was kinda fun.

Sod rush hour though. Sod those idiot car drivers. Sod urban traffic.
