Just to add to my luck today, I kicked some kids out of my building that escalated quickly, and threatened to stab me, then ran away when I called the police, then they got arrested about 5 mins later.

So remind me of this next time!

Beautiful day out around Leith hill today, not quite as cold as strathpuffer!

Have done a few xc races over the years, would like to do some more this year, cotic probably isn't going to be the easiest to heave around some of the mud sweat and gears courses but I have a b2w burning a hole in my pocket.

Looking at the rigid on-one whippet for £999 or £1199 depending on spec. Can anyone think of a better alternative as close as possible to the £1000 mark, purely for a bit of xc racing?

EDIT: Actually, scratch that, planet x is not a partner shop for bike2work...

Cornering is for noobs

I too am looking for an XC race bike and the 'best' deal I've found is the 2019 Specialized Chisel for £999 here

XC race bikes are probably fair buys used TBH - either owned by actual racers who know their kit or people who bought the wrong bike then hardly used it. Lots of scope for haggling because few people actually want them.

Needs more LLS, twin coil shocks and 203mm triple crown forks for those venues.

That's the day we do Claypit hill 50 times

I have the single crown version. And it's brilliant. Means I get twice the number of runs it compared to my mates at places like PORC (rip), bull track, Rogate etc (or 3 times the runs vs pushing my DH back up the hill).

It's overkill for places like swinley (obviously) but that's not to say I wouldn't take it there.
