  • No particular track-record of dressing well.

    Just saw this and smiled

  • Thanks I love finding out about these obscure Japanese brands.

  • I picked up a great hardy amies raincoat on eBay. If you know the details you like (I wanted a Prussian collar and raglan sleeves) you can find amazing vintage pieces.

  • That'll leave you with some nice wet knees, according to the photo on their site!

  • Good price though.

  • Yeah if you’re a 4XL! I’d have loved that coat but fucked if I can find it I an M or L

  • I had a collection of nice white shirts which were starting to show some signs of yellowing at the arm pits and losing some of their brightness. I tried various techniques but this one has actually worked so thought I’d share.

After doing this I left for 6hrs and then washed with vanish oxyaction and they came out bright white with very little yellow discolouration

  • This seems like the most appropriate thread in which to ask the following questions:

    1. What is jeans casual?
    2. What is business casual?

I've worked from home for a while, and my previous employer of 5 years was pretty relaxed about business attire, so I feel out of the loop as to what is appropriate.

Flying to LA tomorrow for work meetings, and have a dinner on Monday night that is classed as jeans casual, and meetings all day Tuesday classed as business casual. I stupidly left my only suit in my in-laws house in France after a wedding last year. I recently bought a backup suit that was slightly too long in the leg and sleeve, and having just collected from an alterations place have noticed the sleeve is a bit gunthered (which he can't fix today as his iron is broken), I'm trying to cobble things to wear out of what I have in the wardrobe....

Jeans casual - jeans, oxford shirt, suede boots?
Business casual - chinos, formal shirt, brogues?

I have a dinner jacket I can bring but it's a while since I've worn it so it might be a bit snug...

  • Business casual - nightmarish hell world
Jeans casual - mega super nightmare hell world

    Your interpretations sound fine.

  • If you’re in LA and depending on your job you can get away with a polo shirt for jeans casual and an oxford shirt for business casual. Maybe a light wool sweater or sports jacket if you have them? Dinner jacket would look wrong imo

This seems like it would be useful for you.

And a nice example of what I’d consider good business casual

  • High waisted suit-ish trousers?

    Where does one find them?

    Simon Cowell's wardrobe.

  • I ended up getting a Loro Piana raglan raincoat from Private White VC - managed to get some extra discount to bring it down to 50% off. Having tried on a number it was my favourite, because of its lightness and extra length. Very pleased with it, now just need to test it out 😂

  • That sounds long fam. I am going to try just the oxy action vanish stuff

  • Takes a couple of mins per shirt and works a treat - hit them with the vanish after to get a brilliant white finish but doesn’t do anything for the yellowing.

  • The Uniqlo macs are on sale at an even more excellent £70 - Im debating just getting one of those and returning the one I bought.

  • Might be the best move. Can you find one in store to try first? Annoyingly can’t see them on the EU website

  • Not sure if this is the right thread...
But I have been getting on very nicely with my http://www.spoke-london.com trousers and just bought a pair of the jeans.

£25 off your first purchase (and £15 for me) if you use my code.

  • My Community Clothing Mac arrived today its great but way too big in the body.
annoying as length and arm length are great.
    So back on the hunt...

  • Any suggestions for crew neck jumpers?

I’m after a looser fit – sort of like the fit of a late 90s sports brand sweatshirt with the looser arms. Ideally ribbed neck, a bit like Le Tricoteur.

Niche I know, but I recently wore an old Hugo Boss jumper from back in the day and forgot how comfortable and well it wore. Unfortunately, it's too battered for anything other than knocking about.

This is close for neck and sleeve detailing, but too fitted.

    Cheers.

  • Guernsey Jumpers?

  • As in the style?

They're a bit too boxy and the necks are too high.

  • Sounds like Finisterre stuff could work.

  • Thanks.

This is actually perfect, apart from the colour.

It also occurred to me that I could just size up if the cuffs are ribbed.
