I'm fancying a new set of handlebars for a change. Quite fancying something with flat tops as I find it quite comfy to rest the hands on (not for aero purposes), but I'm also tempted to give a flared drop a go to see how I get on with them.
Is there a bar out there for me that would have both?
(I'm on an alu budget here not carbon) -

Ritchey evomax has 31,8mm tops that are slightly flattened - very comfortable. Also has some moderate flare. The Comp version is pretty cheap too.

Looking for some advice on Arkose sizing...
A medium 2020 Arkose with the stock 80mm stem and no spacers has a stack of 607 and reach of 464.
A small Arkose with a 100mm stem and 10mm of spacers has a stack of 603 and reach of 469.
My current road bike has a stack of 594 and reach of 469.
And yes, before anyone asks, I have already test-ridden both setups at my local Evans! Although only on the road.
The medium seemed more "flickable", the small more stable.
Having not owned a gravel bike before, which setup would be more suitable for a 50/50 mix of road and gravel/bridleways/light trails?
I'm 5ft 10 with 31-inch inside leg, which the size charts say is definitely a medium, but the stack and reach really aren't all that different in the above setups...

@BareNecessities by 'flickable' do they mean chuckable?
-
• #10159
Numbers mean little, I’d go for 90mm stem on a medium in my head
-
• #10161
I think so!
-
• #10162
No. Whilst both chucking and flicking can be performed simultaneously, they are both distinctly separate actions

Longer, taller bike will be more sure footed off-road.

• #10164
And less fun on road which for most people is the majority of use

Anyone got inspiration for a flat / riser bar build?
After riding my surly so much Drop bars don’t fill me with joy so fancy trying something else
-
• #10166
Thread title is accurate. I’m just gonna get an arkose. Really liked my test ride. A bit harsh on the shitty road surface but nothing a carbon seat post can’t fix
-
• #10168
Those numbers look a bit off kilter
-
• #10169
You don't need a carbon post with 45c tires. Just drop some pressure
-
• #10170
Arkose is stiff but very adaptable, as the clearance allow a much more border choice of tyres and pressure.

Okay, drop to flat/riser idea out.
Surly truck stop bars in, 48cm. Anyone got any?

Surly truck stop bar
Is that bar supposed to make up for their tiny head tubes ;-)

I can only imagine!
This is for a transition rapture.

What would be the steel equivalent of the arkose?

Maybe a Ribble?
Give Brixton Cycles a ring see if they one on display / built up
