  • Got (IMO) some lovely Trickers Bourton's in the Herring sale. Right shoe fits perfectly: snug but not tight, with just a little of the expected heel rub that is inevitable with this kind of shoe when new.

My left foot is a little less happy: due to a collapsed arch and a bit of over-pronation, I'm getting quite a lot of rub on my small toe. I have off-the-peg full-foot orthotics but they are overkill in these shoes, which have decent arch support in the footbed, so I'm looking for suggestions for just a bit of arch-lift for the left side. Has anyone resolved a similar issue with a particular product?

Bend the shoes in half ten times (force it a lot) before each wear, until the heel rub stops. The shoes are very solidly made and the heel rub is the shoe not following the movement of your foot. If you pop into the Tricker's shop they'll do the same (so much it looks like they'll snap the shoes) when you got for a fitting.
