I went to School in Macc.
I will also quietly consider this ride.
Are we suggesting going straight up Snake Pass from the station, as it's literally at the bottom

• #179
14th should be good for me.
-
• #180
Well, you don't get to come if you don't do the list.

Mate it's 200 miles minimum!
-
• #183
To Macclesfield? Returning from there as well?
-
• #184
Macclesfield appears to have some appropriate establishments for no longer young South East London rando fixie hipsters so, yeah? It is right by the peaks eh? Workable for you from Derby?
-
• #185
Absolutely fine by me, just thinking about route options.
-
• #186
You do realise you're talking to cgg, don't you? :)
-
• #187
Hardest hills with best views in shortest distance from Macclesfield that isn't completely stupid on 66gi
@Oliver Schick it's more a reminder that he is talking to us

Hehe.

@alialias how’s Manckrew looking for the 14th start and end in Macclesfield?
Edit: (There’s some vying to take this to a different national park next year)

• #190
Winnats it is then ;)

• #191
And then straight to Mam Tor right!

Cat and Fiddle is a nice way into the Peaks. It’s s long climb but only ~4% average.
Alternatives are going up through Rainow and dropping into the Goyt Valley via Pym Chair.
Or riding from Macc to Bosley and up towards Wildboarclough. From here you can go out towards Longnor via the Roaches. My favourite part of the Peaks for riding and totally doable on fixed.
I would say taking in Snake Pass is optimistic unless people want a monster day out.

Could do Rourkies but start from Macc, but then trains to Stoke are easy as well?

It’s a good route that covers off most of the local bits and bobs and is easily modified?
-
• #195
Date depending- I could well be up for this (and if you decide to re-run that route last year also).
-
• #196
FINE
I have enjoyed this route a few times in the past.
can be modded for a [Macc Lads]start(https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8KjmwBon618L6a0ojN01xQ2NGXajtAWs

Or if you want to make a weekend of it, I know a great B&B in Roberttown
-
• #198
Big day in the Peaks taking in Snake etc is more like 8-9,000ft of climbing. What were the stats when they started from the Sheff side last year?
-
• #199
We did ~100km with ~ 1900m climbing, I believe.
Snake Pass has some nice views, but I imagine it's pretty dangerous to ride in a large group.

That’s a hard day on fixed.
I don’t think Snake is particularly picturesque personally but it does lead to some lovely roads out on the Yorkshire side of the Peaks.
You want to be riding it early on a weekend unless you’re a fan of a close pass from a lorry.
So are we thinking the 14th then? The day looks as good as any other. Who is in? Let's get a list going. Other than those who have posted here
@pastry_bot ?
@Ecobeard ?
@cgg ?
@amey ?
@Ruserius ?
@onyerbike ?
