  • Fuck internal cable routing.

    That is all.

  • Here it is !

  • Anyone see the whisper clearance on the Grim Donut between the coil and downtube? Doesn't look good.

Still too conventional though. Needs 53° head angle, 1500mm wheelbase, negative fork offset, negative stem with 700mm reach, reverse riser bars with 50mm drop, three shocks (separately handling spring rate, rebound and compression) 30spd gearbox with asymmetric idler wheel and kevlar drive belt impregnated with diamonds.

    Or I'm not interested.

  • I don't understand how they could have built that from pre-made parts (what he said in the video posted previously). The seat tube/head angle combo would never occur on a normal bike

Telescopic forks are surely the limiting factor for head angles. A part that slides up and down isn't going to respond well to fore/aft forces. Bring on the linkage forks and we can see the 45° head angle we all desire.

The factory custom made the geometry asked for based on their "standard" bikes. My guess is they took tubes from different size frames for the custom build

  • Has anyone ridden at Swinley recently? Worth heading there at the weekend?

  • Usually worth a trip if you know your way around Crowthorn as well as Swinley.

Bits of Swinley red were closed last time I was there in Dec, worth checking that they have reopened because typically they were the better bits.

  • Yeah, most of the red stuff was closed off when I last went- just had a look on trailforks and it seems ok but firsthand experience is much more valuable!

  • Should be able to find out on either the facebook group or the bike hub website.

    Yep here we go: https://www.swinleybikehub.com/trail-maintenance#statuses

Well worth the £1 or so for the bike wash at the Lookout.

  • Well worth the £1 or so for the bike wash at the Lookout.

    Best gift I've ever received.

  • @platypus finally fixed my Swinley sidewall puncture for me on Sunday. That was pretty good.

  • With a bit of bacon?

  • Quite possibly, yes. Is your new bike done?

  • Yeah, does look close doesn’t it, looks like it might even touch when it's going through its travel.

  • Nearly! Had massive problems with ... The dropper! ( Don't laugh!)

I dunno what happened to the cable but it was all fucked up when I pulled it out, so had to thread it through again from scratch which took an age , but it's in now and working, but the cable is a bit long (FML).

All that is left to do is cable up the derailleur and put the chain on.

  • Pretty much done now, just need to do some tidying up, and take a less busy picture

  • Looks well nice.

  • Cat isn't impressed?

What's the thing in the middle of the RH grip?

  • A hair band. Obviously it’s not mine.

  • Ooh, very nice! Can't beat a bit of chrome and purple ano.

I really want to try one of the Cotic full sussers, the current gen BFe is great fun.

  • All that squish will make the bogs feel even softer

  • N.B.: the video in the Insta link below shows a horrible crash from height. Be warned.

Anyone seen that famous railway gap at the end of the Diesel Wolf trail in Pemberton, B.C.?

When it goes wrong it really fucking goes wrong:

  • I watched that without knowing what it was. Fuckety fucking fuck.

  • That made my stomach turn. I can’t recommend watching.
