Anyone know a mini cab company that offers infant/child car seats as part of the service for heathrow transfers?
-
• #100253
Most do. Just ask. Keep in mind that they may not be up to your standards. Can you borrow one for the trip?
-
• #100254
Depends on where you are but you can GoZero in a Tesla S or X for the same price as most others and you'll be saving the planet. They have new seats for all ages

you'll be saving the planet
Do you want to just run that past yourself again?
A: If he gave a fuck about the planet he wouldn't even be asking about transport to Heathrow
B: I'd like a citation for your presumed claim that a big heavy expensive Tesla has lower life cycle resource consumption than a smaller lighter cheaper ICE powered alternative. -

Threadlock, grease or nothing on the threads of a bottom bracket for a stripped BB shell? Gut feeling is something like Loctite 243, but the scrap of paper in the box doesn't mention anything

End user lied to me
burn them

How are you installing a BB into a stripped shell? Is it one of those that has its own sleeve that it screws into? If so, then I'm guessing threadlock, otherwise grease/antiseize.

What are you putting in it.???
-
• #100261
It's possible that it's designed to use precession (sp?) to keep it tight but I guess a bit of blue Loctite wouldn't hurt.

It is the company I drove for. I did not swallow the corporate pill and I really don't believe Teslas will save the world.

Don't seem like it has the tightest of tolerances and I just found a post on SJS saying recommended torque and blue loctite, so I'll give that a shot. Thanks!

Any idea what's the largest tyre I'll fit in a set of mini-v's? Specifically Tektro 926ALs and I have a pair of slick 40c tyres I'd like to use. Don't need too much mud room.
-
• #100267
Don't know about the largest but that combo should be fine. I have TRP CX-9's and 45mm mudguards and there's plenty of space.

Depends which Mini-V. The 926AL is only 80mm, whereas the Shimano ones are 90mm. I'd say you've got about 50mm from bead seat to wire on the 926AL, which should be fine with 40C slicks but probably not much more.

@Colonel_of_Truth
@mdcc_testerThanks both, very helpful. Tektro ones it is then.

My Apidura handlebar bag is annoying me. It's wide but short, and I want something long and thin I can hang from the extensions so that instead of running across the front of the handlebars it sits below the extensions but doesn't extend beyond them. A bit like this one on Rob English's TransAm bike:
I'd like it made from grey VX21 material (probably with some black Cordura reinforcements on the mounting points) and for it to basically matchy matchy the Apidura saddle bag and frame bag.
So, who's the best person to knock up this custom bar bag for me? Quality and sticking to a half-reasonable timeframe is more important than price on this one.

I have less than six weeks left on my UK passport. Is a trip to Budapest at the end of Jan going to be a problem? UK Gov and Hungarian consular websites are not exactly clear. TIA.
edit I am returning before Brexit Bong Day

Any help here?
https://www.postoffice.co.uk/identity/soon-to-expire-passport
Edit: Seems to suggest for the EU it only needs to be in date, no other minimum length needed

• #100273
EU will be fine (before Bong day at any rate)

• #100274
Very helpful, thank you : )
It’s actually similar text to the gov website, but a fine difference that makes me read it as -
Post Office - Yes
gov.uk - Yes**No
