  • I'd advise getting the service done you referred to and list what it covered in the advert.

Have you tried Facebook marketplace or in a specific Golf buy and sell FB group?

  • Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree are good places to start if you're keen to avoid listing/FSV and PayPal fees.

  • I sold my car on Facebook Marketplace - 44 messages in 24 hours.

I had tried on eBay too, and the first buyer pulled out two days later.

That's a limited sample size, but poor experience.

  • New coil pack, plugs and HT leads seem to have sorted the Ka misfire.

Then of course something else goes. There was a tiny coolant leak near the engine so I changed the offending hose, freaking thing was still leaking so I was yanking the hose back off and the sodding spigot cracked off the thermostat housing! Turns out they make them from GRP!

Fortunately we live in such a fucked up world that I was able order a new pattern part from China for £8 and fitted it today. All sorted.

  • Those thermostat housings are common for breaking.

They're a glass filled injection moulded part, can be annoyingly brittle the more glass they put into the base material.

  • Think it is a ford wide issue.

  • Same on most VAG cars too

  • Got a guy coming 'round to look at the Suby a bit later, just a few annoying little dents I'd like him to pull out... Anyone have experience with PDR?

  • No brainer right?
    Ticks my boxes.

    Fast luxury cruiser.
    Good audio.
    Comfy.

    Saab 95 aero

Drawback is big tax band. But hopefully offset by reliability! Famous words.

  • They're nice to drive. Common issues are coil pack & turbo and that's exactly what broke on ours. Otherwise solid. Prone to rust at the front of the rear wheel arches. Seems like a good price.

Edit: boot is smaller than the v70 but I expect you know this

  • We have the same but the TiD

The diesel is fairly cheap to run, I can get 45-50 mpg on a slower motorway cruise, maybe 40-45 if I'm doing 80mph

Super comfy seats, quiet inside, decent build quality. We've had a bit of bad luck with ours so had to change a wheel bearing, the generator and some other bits and bobs

Ours started to creak a fair bit when I go slowly over bumps, esp on turns. Mechanic thought it was the bearing at the top of one of the front struts but after taking the whole thing apart it wasn't. I think it's a load of bushes that are starting to go

  • Didnt know that. But dont want a diesel and v70 t5 are a bit rare and command more for less performance and the same costs. So wrote them off. Sure 9-5 will be big enough, will check measurements.

  • We have 2 kids and it's plenty enough for us. The v70 boot is probably more square so easier to pack, but it's not like the 95 has a small boot.

    I miss our w124 though...

  • We had a 7 seater w124 as teenagers. Always a short straw for the two in the boot.

  • There is a nice and shiny red Lorinser w124 estate down the road from me. Looks 👌

  • Yeah it'll be plenty big for you, just that you were asking about boot space upthread so thought I'd mention it. As kboy says the rear bushings can be worn out or just creaky, our local independent garage lubed them with lithium grease and they went quiet until we sold the car two years later.

  • Hmm, lesson #678 in people do things differently, I'd have pulled the suspension to bits and replaced all the bushings.

  • PDR guy turned up at 9.30 at night, not the smartest move... Going out to him tomorrow morning so he can have a proper look with his really big light...

At least I think that's what he said... He was scared the glue might pull Subaru paint, says it's not very good paint... Probably just a general caveat, I'm not frightened... Honest...

  • @Dammit Mm-hmm. Had to meditate for a bit and sing 'let it go' from Frozen. Still had this bookmarked, switched to English for your convenience:

  • Hah!

  • Tell me more about this greasing. Can I do it myself?

  • Yeah boot is important, nice to get a bike or 2 in under the security cover, so you can park up without work.

  • Spotted a lambo suv earlier. MASSIVE LAMBO LOGO on the rear quarters so assumed it was a demo.

Absolutely ridiculous thing and was going to slag it off, but then I watched a Contash video on YouTube and Tbh they meant to be ridiculous, so maybe it's fine. Still looks like all of the other lux sport SUVs.

  • Urus STX?
