HELLO
Does anyone have spare clear plastic head lights?

Universal joints.
Step 1: build the universal joint.

Slow burner this. Still I can turn the axles and get a feel for how badly I’ve built the rear diff.

Coming along nicely. I'm gonna 3D model mine as I'm building it, which will slow things down considerably.

Been looking at buggies all week. Just considering summat to thrash around, maybe a Wild One or a DT03 Racing Fighter. Even if I don't end up getting one, watching builds on YouTube is rather therapeutic.
-
• #460
Blimey. That escalated quickly.
Bangin! What's your plans for it?
-
• #461
Yeah, you've got a lot to answer for!
Must admit I'm not sure about plans. Bought everything necessary to run, but might keep it on the shelf for the time being. Although if the opportunity arises I'll have a hard time resisting taking it for a spin.

Er. Pistols at dawn Shirley? 😊

• #463
for thrashing get the DT03, tougher and more parts availablity than the Wild one.
-
• #464
wow!!
-
• #465
Ta very much, was kinda leaning towards the DT03, if I get one.
-
• #466
Just been browsing DT03 Racing Fighter deals, the kit can be found for about 100, Black Edition available Feb, comes with hop ups, and can be had for 85. Am I missing something?

Two nerdy hobbies for the price of one...
Good thing about the 3D is you don't need to do stuff in the right order, and don't need screws to hold it together :)
-
• #468
So what’s the plan with the 3D?
-
• #469
It's fun, believe it or not. Good opportunity to make a decent model while everything's still in bits.
Might end up doing something like this...
-
• #470
What’s the process for creating the 3D model?
-
• #471
Not sure how to explain that in simple terms. Complicated business, or at least doing it well is.
-
• #472
So there’s no shortcut? You have to model each component ‘by hand’ in software? Yeah I could see that taking some time. Only so many parts though I guess.
-
• #473
Pretty much that, yeah. Things like the gear cases are the most time consuming cos they're rather intricate - and require lots of measuring to make sure everything's reasonably accurate (aiming for nearest 0.5mm in this case). Very satisfying when you model parts independently and they actually fit together tho'.

3D highlights interesting collision.
If u fit brushless will have to be a very short can.
-

Seen a few discussions regarding that. There seem to be plently of brushless options that will work without modification. Not that I have any plans of the sort.
Yah that's where I nicked the photos from! Or at least, the same guy. I don't think there any photos of Jamie Booth's actual car.
In other news I want the DF03 Dark Impact wheels and tyres for my Egress, but it works out at about £40 for the lot if you buy them as spares, so I might just buy a DF03.
