  • If the spindles are steel they are SL, if titanium then SR.

  • Any recommendations for buying prints/canvas online. Looking for an abstract oil on canvas for our front room. We're not talking recognised art and big money £50-150 - Wayfair seems the most comprehensive choice atm

  • 1000Museums.com
    SSPL prints

And some favs from guys who didn't start out as painters -
    John Lurie Prints
    Martin Tielli

No actual experiences with above but have often lusted over them.
I mean the prints on their sites, though the two of them are no slouches either.

  • Seconded. They’re shite and onions.

  • Am I just not tightening the lock nuts up enough against each other?

That depends. If you want the adjustment to be stable, tighten them more. On the other hand, if you don't want the lock nuts to detonate in a cheesy explosion, don't tighten them enough to retain adjustment.

  • Thanks. What would you expect someone to be selling them for, £60/70?

  • Have you got the correct C3 clearance bearings fitted?

Quite why they're specced I'm not sure however I know from experience fitting standard clearance bearings results in them not lasting very long at all.

  • Spacer stacks

Had somebody tell me the other day that most manufacturers recommend no more than 4.5cm stack.
Is this accurate? Is there an advised maximum?
I'm guessing there are some variables to take in to consideration such as the construction method of the frame as well as the size of the headtube.

  • Is this accurate?

It's in the ball park, different manufacturers have different recommendations, but for carbon 1⅛" steerers they congregate around 40-50mm maximum under the stem. Some heavy duty steel forks are designed for more. The load case depends on factors such as stem length and angle, bar width and degree of rider hench.

  • I’ve actually replaced the miche locknuts as I had one of them split, alarmingly.

@cagimaha I assume so as I’ve not replaced them. The bearings seem fine - it’s just that the locknuts seem to be tightening in on them for some reason

  • I was adjusting my cleat position today and stripped one of the threads in the cleat plate. They are spd cleats.

Is there anyway to repair the thread in the plate?

  • In most spd shoes the plate is actually free floating under the inner sole. You can probably just replace it.

  • If you're struggling to get hold of a plate, give me a shout. I've got a couple of plates which I removed from some de-commissioned Sidis for exactly this sort of situation.

  • Might sound a bit odd, but running fixed with a 3/32" chain for now, a classic 7 speed chain ; wondered if using a 10 speed chain (the ones that are lighter like this one with a quick link would be alright?
I am not doing any skids as I have a brake on, and not using it as a track bike either so I am not putting it through important constrain, but I still climb a bit with it. Anyone tried this?

  • Are there any maps online which show property numbers? Google is a bit hit and miss and having to hunt around for numbers using streetview is a ballache. Cheers

  • wondered if using a 10 speed chain (the ones that are lighter like this one with a quick link would be alright?

It's functional as long as it fits the chainring and sprockets; beware that some are a full 3/32" wide and won't fit 9+ speed chains which are only 11/128" wide. Not sure why you'd want to use a more expensive chain which wears out quicker though.

  • I'm being cheap and rather than spending £££££ on getting people who know what they're doing to do our new website I want to get the bulk of it done in-house before passing it off to the wizards.

It's portfolio based and most of the projects we've done will eventually have a page with video, photos, animated gifs, title, various bits of column info, body copy and tags etc. Probably start with 50 projects but planning to put several hundred up in time for archive reasons.

At the moment we're using Google Sheets to collate all this info with a column for each section and for the body copy (3 to 5 paras) there's a link to a corresponding Google Doc (videos and photos similarly have links).

Is there any existing software that can, relatively easily and attractively, show all this info on one page so we're not constantly juggling a million tabs. So thumbnails of photos/videos, full para copy visible without having to enlarge spreadsheet columns/rows?

  • Bit hesitant to recommend it since Atlassian can be very flaky, but maybe Confluence? You could set up a template with all the sections, you can embed images and pretty sure you can embed videos.
Then link to all the pages with a main index page.

  • Just skip this step and chuck it all in a content management system already.

  • Newer / higher end chains are actually better made than older 5-8 speed stuff. They last longer and could well be stronger.

beware that some are a full 3/32" wide and won't fit 9+ speed chains which are only 11/128" wide

I've not noticed this running 11 speed chain (SRAM PC-1130) on various 3/32nd chainrings and cogs.

Show me an 11-speed chain which can win a tug of war against a Wippermann 7R8 🙂

I've not noticed this running 11 speed chain (SRAM PC-1130) on various 3/32nd chainrings and cogs

Most of them are OK, but I know somebody mentioned last time we discussed this that a particular brand's 3/32" sprockets were too wide for 11/128" chain

  • I was just installing the tester approved chain and noticed the weight difference with the chain on my 10 speed equipped bike and was wondering if there would be any resistance problem or anything. mostly curiosity! thanks for the answer

  • How can I rename/delete a file that is locked by 'another user'. There's no one in it. Windows. I have admin access.

  • Right click on file, select properties, click on the security tab in the properties dialogue box, edit the permissions

    1 Attachment

    • Clipboard01.jpg
  • Edit the permissions to what?

Edit. Nevermind. End user lied to me
