9000 works on some classic builds, but not all. Have done similar on my Vitus 979 and it seems to work with the aluminum frame accents. Not really sure it would work on this build, 9100 with the carbon Look post and a black ergostem would make the frame pop out more.
I also found a 7400 front derailleur, cleaning out the parts bin over the holidays. You can have it if you cover postage from Belgium.

Architect habit of over engineering everything?
To be fair, I have some scuffs and paint chips on my Venge chainstays that i want to get repaired and painted, purely because I know they are there...
The damage could be filled with JB Weld, sanded then touched up and you wouldn't know it was there.
Maybe this is a truth of materials thing though @HoKe ;)

which fulfils my matchy matchy OCD at home too.
You might want a period correct matching bag to put it in too...?

I have an annoying matt clear coat raw carbon finish which I understand is a bit of a pain to match up.
I think I might have sealed up the scuffs with clear nail polish to protect it, might think about a DIY touch up when I next strip it down. -

I think you should buy some period Corima tubs for that 'death could come at any minute' frisson.
For real tho, those wheels are both hellishly light, and amazingly flimsy

Mavic Zap for authenticity.

Yeah but I sold it cos it was too nice to ride!

A tririg front brake would suit the frame
-
• #514
Why not get the carbon repair folks to add disc brake tabs so you can put a proper group set on the frame?

I totally agree, but I don’t have the Look seatpost or black stem to justify the all black components.
Plus I having the sliver parts in my eyes makes the bike and also highlights the stem from the bike from that era.
Can you check if it is a 7400 or 7410?

Probably get 7403 for the matchy period for this components. If I was going a little modern it makes more sense to straight to 9000.

Thanks.
Ask for a quote and should be around £200 to repair and repaint.

Doesn’t seem to like the iPhone or iPad, will look on the PC.
Agreed, looking at some Nitto bars and correction the rim I tried was 25mm, hence the struggle/success.

Very tempting...maybe once I finish the build, granted I don’t know how much protection it will provide during transportation.

For now I do want to avoid the patchwork for an old frame like this and get it professionally done. Just for peace of mind. Plus hopefully they’ll spot if there are any potentially cracks in the frame too....

I ride through London on a Brompton from East to West, my daily commute is literally ‘death could come anytime’ though it more like angry old man shouting at car.
Actually looking at a set of Gen 1 Mavic Cosmic for vintage look and potentially many ‘oh shit moments’ too.

Spinergy such a nice idea.
Get 7700/7800 brakes, they work so much better and don’t look out of place.
