Can't tell if serious...
Estate 17 are definitely not an old school, frenzy-averse estate agent. They're gentrification vanguard, with their own little magazine about Walthamstow.

Fixed skylight.
Architects was a bit of a minefield. Quite a few wanted dollar just to come around for a look. Then the ones who did come around, all said different things about max size of apertures, min size permitted for downstairs loo etc.
Eventually found a fairly low rent architect who did some drawings which the builder then semi ignored. Didn't end up mattering that much, though.

Oh are they? Their branding and website are so terrible I assumed old school, they’ve got a bloody full screen animated gif on their home page.

If you care there are also architects that design and build to avoid any hand over issues, would recommend.

https://www.eckfordchong.com/projects Worth noting they came in pretty much bang on budget and on time. I would say bang on but there was scope creep.

Would you mind if I checked out your extension on insta? I'm just intrigued how it worked out especially as my parents in law are now looking for inspiration for an extension after being totally fucked over by a builder for ten grand (who advertised in the guardian weekend glossy magazine of all places)

Went with resi wished we’d gone with someone/architect. though they do what they do what they do they leave in our experience many things I wished we hadn’t had to deal with as in layouts etc

They build boxes etc but don’t get involved as we found with ideas of the finish. We’ve had a bit of mare with the final fit. What should have been done in 3 months pushed onto 6. But almost there now.

Fuck it, I'll post a pic of the bathroom because I LOVE the pink.
EC's level of finish is amazing, and their attention to detail really good, and thats coming from an annoying pretentious prick who thinks he knows best.
Their build team were the soundest and most middle class builders I've ever met, kinda miss them coming round at 8am every morning. One of them left their lunch here one day, it was Sourdough with pastrami and gouda wrapped in reusable wax canvas (missed a couple of points from not being vegan).

👋🏼 been a pita to be honest. Love what you’ve done on yours saw it on IG. Wish we’d gone with someone more hands on. Most of what we did was with us with tape measures and the builders know how and sometimes not. But happy to see the end in sight now. Fed up of washing up in the bath..

did you go for openy openy skylights or fixed?
did you go full fat architect route or just a common or garden structural engineer?
