If it's just grounds for espresso you're weighing a small jewellery scale (definitely not a drugs scale) would do

That's what I had. It did a couple of years I guess before dying. I've not replaced it yet - think I asked a same question a while back in this thread actually.

I'd just get a random one as well. I have one by "coffee gear" which seems to be a normal drugs scale with the word coffee on it (not that that stops colleagues making remarks) but works well and was cheap.

I fucking hate gadgety scales. Drug dealer scales ftw. Try to get ones that take regular batteries, they’ll probably last a year which is way better than having to USB charge some bloody scales.

Yeah I just use cheap amazon scales, they can be hit or miss and I've had ones that refresh too slowly to be accurate or die after a couple months. Currently using These which are the best I've used so far. I have the 500g/0.001g variety but I imagine the 3kg/0.1g version would be fine too.

I use this definitely not a drugs scale which I got from a definitely Ornamental Pipe & paper shop which has since closed and is now a loose tea blend shop. /csb

^ That looks like mine: dropped it once, is still working fine 2 years+ after purchase.

I de-calibrated mine by accident once. Oops. Recalibrated with a 100g bag of crisps as that's all I had to hand.
I think the only thing that kills these is water.

That's the serendipidous beauty of my use of it, I only weigh dry beans on mine for moka pot.

Solenoid on my Classic appears to have shit itself, tried to descale four times to no effect... Started taking it apart to get the boiler out so I could get to the FUCKING solenoid and this happens... FML... Eighty bucks for a replacement down the drain!!!
At least my local coffee place has them in stock, I'll pick one up next week...

Weird - mine just did the the same thing. Have never taken the boiler out to clean the solenoid though..

Always did mine in situ! Although the replacement solenoid I got was beefy - so between that and PID wiring it's getting cramped in there..

I couldn't get in there, just as well I did as the boiler was in a state... Thought I'd have to replace it but managed to get it looking as good as new... I need new O rings now, silly to put the old ones back in after doing such a good job cleaning it... I'm hoping the solenoid issue is fixed, don't fancy taking it apart again!
That picture's awful, I need to do my nails... đź’…

instant coffee still accounts for over 75 percent of coffee bought to drink in British homes, as opposed to well under 10 percent in the U.S. and France and one percent in Italy.[10]
Bloody hell.
My new boss drinks instant, I thought he was some kind of crazy outlier. I literally don't know anyone else who drinks it.

I drink instant. I drink instant decaff too. I also have a coffee machine sitting here that wouldn't be out of place in a cafe. They're different drinks. The best thing about instant though is how it can turn shitty vanilla ice cream into something nice. :)

Unsurprising. Everyone and their mother has a filter coffee machine in the US.
My in laws drink it. Before bed. With no impact on sleep. Which I guess shows how not-like-real-coffee instant coffee is!

With no impact on sleep.
I used to think my coffee intake had no impact on sleep... and then I stopped having caffeine after lunchtime. Noticeable difference.

Was given a v60 for Xmas. I keep being caught surprised by how much of a kick such a mild flavoured drink has. I feel I ought to be reducing the number of coffees I have with milk and am happy drinking pour over black.
I no longer drink caffeine drinks after 6pm, on the occasions I do have coffee later I can’t sleep until 3am.
I used to be able to drink coffee much later and thought it had no effect.

If you drink coffee immediately before bed you can fall asleep before the stimulant effect kicks in. Probably doesn’t do much for your quality of sleep. If it’s been your routine for years then it’s not going to be a problem. I find that coffee in the evening causes me to wake up in the early hours and have an awful restless night.

I drink instant decaff
Jesus Christ, get a grip, man!

I just had another.
In a Sport Direct mug.
With UHT milk.
Sometimes I let it go cold too.

Bet you're dunking your cheese rolls in it as well you animal.
Espressso (well, eventual Americano) - the Coffee Gear worked fine, but ate batteries for a living, which I assume contributed to it's early demise.
Thanks for the recommendations, like the look of the Hario but will have a gander to see what non-coffee scales might have to offer. Cheers
