  • Actually could @Tijs model this for forum old times sakes? :)

  • I've pictured it in my my mind; DA7700 is the way forward.

  • Now find a picture with 9100, and I'm really impressed!

  • Also DA7800

  • Bar a few components, this looks properly timewarp. Yeah that was a lot of money but anything new at that price is completely soulless. Really looking forward to the rebuild.

Carbon hat on: that chain damage doesn’t look anything worse than some deep rash. By all means get it checked out but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

  • Counter point. Old bikes are shit and you should buy etap

  • Probably once I get annoyed with the DA 7400 I’ll upgrade it to 9100 XD

  • I did look into this, but that crankset doesn’t really fit the look IMO.

  • If you’re serious about going 7700 I have some bits, somewhere. Can’t actually remember what though, but it is shiny and if not NOS then VGC.

  • I think other similar models on the net is a lot more expensive and in a lot worse of condition. So in my eyes I found a real good gem to have components and frame in near perfect condition.

You’re probably right regarding the frame, but for peace of mind it would be nice to get it to near perfection and protect it before I take it to ride on the grimy roads of the UK.

  • I know this will probably be the case, especially the bike of this era I don’t think it will be anything amazing compared to today’s modern standard.

Hence why I was either looking upgrading to DA 7700 (9 speed) or today’s standard of DA9100 (11 speed)

I think for this early period I would just keep it as retro as possible and the let’s see what annoys/break down first.

  • With your Look and ‘commuter’ TT bike?

  • It is probably with my Serotta and Look and Rosie’s Look and my lo pro and rosie’s lo pro and her mini Dave Lloyd, and almost everything else that will likely never see daylight again. Where bikes and dreams and youth go to die.

  • Interested in the Kingsbery skewers, have you thought of a price?
    Cracking bike, congratulations.

  • This amazing and very absurd, good work. Bars are pointing up

  • 9000>9100 for classic bikes

  • Cool bike, looks like you found something you'll enjoy! Unexpected bonus point for getting a bike you can take to Eroica

  • bicyclist.cc have some NOS in stock.

  • When you asked that question on the Look thread I didn't think you'd actually buy one!

It'd be interesting to see if you can fit a 23c clincher on a modern rim, but if you can't you should go for a pair of FMB.

  • 7400 with STI actually works really well, maybe search out a nice 90s steel frame (Armstrong era Merckx?), move the bits onto that, and hang the KG196 above the fireplace before it kills you?

  • This is a very silly bike.

  • I like it.

  • This. 9000 cranks are Shimanos best work (other than 7710 track cranks)
