  • My coffee gear bench scales are stubbornly refusing to work after moving house, what are the Forum-Approved™ scales these days?

(I make a couple of cups a day using a Classic, so nothing gold-plated or industrial please!)

  • I was given the brewista ones and they work well

  • Used these when working in a coffee shop which I have no complaints about (the scales, not the working):

To be honest at home I just use a regular digital kitchen scale (0.1g precision) and it works fine.

Controversial opinion, for weighing espresso in a basket, any old cheap digital scales will do fine as long as they give the same reading every time. "Accuracy" is irrelevant, as long as they're precise. Similar to the discussion on grinder settings a page or two ago where the same grind setting on two separate grinders of the same model could very well differ. It's about finding the settings that work in your environment.

  • How are you making the coffee?

  • I'd just get a random one as well. I have one by "coffee gear" which seems to be a normal drugs scale with the word coffee on it (not that that stops colleagues making remarks) but works well and was cheap.
