Is that due to the speed limit though, or what are you getting at?
Not sure, maybe just an observation that there have been three huge incidents since an initiative to slow people down, presumably to make the roads safer, but it looks like it's backfiring. I think people's car rage gets the better of them but unfortunately it's only time until they fuck up big time. I've had a couple of HUGE overtakes carried out on me (in my car) when even I have already been doing more than the 20mph limit myself. One happened this morning in fact.
Seems like driving more slowly could have helped in all of these accidents.
Agreed.
Is the limit actually being enforced, or is it another one of those theoretical 20s you find all over London?
No enforcement, just a couple of speed readouts.

Well... there's your problem. It needs to be enforced until it actually becomes the new normal. Possibly with a redesign of the road too, there are ways to 'psychologically' slow people down as well.

Have you considered Tena?

Amazing orange moon set this morning and lovely yellow moonrise this evening. Chilly, dry and happy commute times.

Lot's of wind, heart rate spiked without putting in much extra effort, slow af, now sitting in the office feeling cold and have a headache. Hope I can shake this bug before I get sick...

Commuted fixed for the first time in ages. It's fast isn't it?!

Was a nice gentle downwinder in from Kingston this morning. Not looking forward to battling Storm Brendan for the return. 50mph gusts forecast. Ooof. Tempted to train it back, but they'll probably be borked by branches/trees on the line.

For the first time ever I benefitted from a tail wind home from one of these big bastard storms. Think I set a new land speed record for a fat man on a surly troll.

Forum name change then?
I'm starting to believe my actual name is "Oi, you fucking cunt!" after so many friendly drivers started a conversation that way.

Bit sketchy out. Part tailwind, part headwind, part crosswind, part painful rain in the face.

Just got in. Same experience as above. Was exhilarating in a strange sort of way.

Nae too bad. Got a bit wet, got a bit blown about, was sorta fun, was sorta shit. Reminded me of messlife.

Sketchiest ride home of the year. Helped by assholes driving extra close.
-
• #28593
Yeah I think if it weren’t for cars I would genuinely enjoy riding in those kind of conditions.

The wind was playing all sorts of tunes on the buildings in the City this evening. Managed a PB up part of the A10 - a mile at 29mph

The bike bit of my journey was fine. The train bit much less so. That's the first time. I've done KGX to Ely via Peterborough. Probably not the last though.

a rare opportunity to try out my standup material about cantis and Tektro Power Hangers with some guy at the Buckingham Gate/Victoria St junction. Heh. Dude. They’re spongy. Like your mom... [lights change/mash pedals/chain drops]

Uh. Tailwind. PB. Haven’t uploaded my splits yet to keep this on topic

Not only is fixed faster downwind, it seems to be particularly fast into the wind. A few cyclists passing too close given how much people were being blown sideways though.

Not only is fixed faster downwind
Not my experience to be honest, same as with downhills this is where other cyclists usually 'get away' as I can't easily spin quickly enough to physically get the bike to that speed. I recognise that's just me not being very good at spinning at 115+ though.

I actually slowed down to help wash all the crap off the bike from the weekend's 200. I'm not going back out in today/tonight's shit though.
Jup, just orderd two kmc chains! WFH today and not riding tomorrow so hopefully they are here friday.
