  • I did try this, but even when the callipers were open the margin was very fine/no difference due to the size of the rims.

No worries though, the shake down from London to Brighton and back helped to reduce the pads by quite a bit to make the fairly usable for now. Will take up the idea of using the shallower pads later.

  • As I said, love disc brake bikes just don’t have one that makes me want to have one just yet #typicialarchitect

  • Looks V cool indeed, but the saddle setting (angle adjustment...) is not going at all IMO , did you exceeded the limit of advancement of the rails or not?

  • No, just didn’t know how the damn thing work. The saddle angle has been resolved since these photos has been taken :)

  • Clever once you figure the damn system out as this allows you to swap different saddles without compromising the saddle angle.

Well actually, the saddle are not made equal, one saddle may be level while another manufacturer is not.

  • As I said, love disc brake bikes just don’t have one that makes me want to have one just yet.

There's literally a disc version of your bike.

  • I know, but I didn’t say I love it either.

  • Silly me, I guess it’s purely swapping out the saddle like or like with compromising the saddle angle.

  • Who makes that bike?

  • The not bleached pearly whites smile.

  • You remind me of the 3T seatpost that has a similar system, a pain in the ass but once you got the angle, it can be written down so you won't have to carefully aligned it after removing the saddle.

  • Indeed as I said it is a very neat design, the only difference I guess with this is that 3T version doesn’t house the di2 battery like the pro vibe and dare I say it less elegant with the styling too.

  • So as I few of your must know by now, Canyon Ultimate SLX has not been sighted for found and most likely probably stripped and sold for parts by now.

But after a couple of months to unwind and reflect on the bike and memories I had over the past 8 years, a wise man once said ‘when one door closes, another opens...’

    RIP Crackyon.

  • So what's the next road bike going to be?

  • Come on, let’s see it

  • So I’ve come to realise I’ve come to that age (MAMIL) and that I usually ride my road bike on the weekend with mates and I don’t have the energy, time or youth to race anymore. (Plus scared of crashing doesn’t help too)

These days I mainly ride either my Brompton to work and the track bike on the weekend to the Velodrome and when I did have a road bike it was for occasional ride here and there to places with good scenery and coffee/cakes.

  • So... What's in the box?

  • Upon this reflection I wanted to get something fast looking and has that wow factor. Initially I wanted to get the new Cervelo S5 or even the old Cannondale supersix evo hi-mod evo with a classic paintjob but something in my gut was telling me no, and then when I watch the Hambini video regarding their poor quality on tolerance on their manufacturing around their BB and knowing the guy who use to work for Cervelo has now gone to Cannondale, that dream was killed of quickly and decided to look elsewhere.

Did like the new Look 795 but what put me off was just the price tag but the cable routing, which for an aero bike wasn’t really appealing and was still somehow missing that wow factor.

  • So I’ve come to realise I’ve come to that age

Don't retire just yet, Ho. You might live for another 70 years

  • no good road bikes on the market so you bought an mtb.

  • So as a few of your guys who follow me on IG knew that I got a new(ish) bike during my trip to NYC. Unfortunately/fortunately the seller refuse to sell the bike internationally and luckily I was visiting my girlfriend this holiday period and logically I thought it would work out perfectly and order the bike to her and take it back with me as part as my check in luggage.

Everything went according to plan, however when I arrived back in UK, being an honest guy I told the custom officer that I brought a new bike from state side and his eyes lite up with the £ sign and said I had to pay UK and custom tax for the bike...

I was like WTF!!! So I had no choice and I had to fork out £300 for them to release the bike so I could take it back home with me.

Motto of the story, last guys finish last and honesty is never the right policy!

  • Type faster

  • The bike is currently in the cardboard bike box atm, as I’m working silly hours again this week. Architecting is a silly profession.

I wanted to take some nice sexy pictures of it with some natural daylight. Most likely will build it up on Friday evening before taking some pictures of it on the weekend to showcase the forum and the interweb.

  • A classic.
