I really liked the mobile phone policy but admittedly hadn't thought of it in a disability context - you'd hope staff would be pragmatic in that kind of situation.
They can’t, as they face getting fired if they got caught giving people leeway.
Also it doesn’t necessary just disabled people, but what if you’re anxiously waiting for a call/text/email from the hospital/work/etc. What if you don’t want to be bothered by a creep by looking busy at your phone? Etc.
It’s easy for us to be positive about a mobile ban from a position of privilege.

Or what if they just want to look at their phone? As long as they are not with me then what do I care what other people are doing? It can't be as bad as overhearing men talking about football, maybe they should ban that instead.

And what if you just want to check something on your phone? Why is reading a newspaper fine, but reading news on BBC Online isn't? What if I want to send my mate Matt a message going "Yo are you going to turn up anytime soon or what"?
It's the same bullshit puritan attitude as 'no swearing'. In a fucking pub of all places - one could think we're talking about a church or something.
Your point about disabilities etc. is of course a very valid one, but even without that I'll definitely not visit a pub that has that kind of rule.

what business is it of anybody's what you or i do with our phones in a pub? fuck off mate, i'm busy here.

Nice! I live on the other side of the A6, not been kicked out the bluebell for swearing yet either.

Zing.
It’s too easy to see how it appears like a good ideas until we start thinking about it (hence the disability context).

I'm not sure they pay attention to those rules too strictly. I prefer station hop anyway, although tallyrand and nordie are good too, not been in overdraught yet, it used to be my bank and I still owe them money, not convinced it's not all a ploy to catch me and force repayment.

Isn’t that just the nature of air travel?
Not really. Ukraine International does good value Canada - Kiev flights but no obvious reason why so many Canadians would be going to Tehran. Could be a big group with family heritage in Iran visiting I suppose.

NEW from me: We asked folks to identify Iran on an unlabeled map.
28% of them got it right. Here's where they guessed.

Ok people placing it in Spain or even the UK itself are clearly taking the piss. Right? Right?

I used to drink at the Fitzroy and the Yorkshire grey a fair bit when I lived on Gt Titchfield St and was skint. Likely a different era, but the beer was pretty shit then. Fitz was definitely the friendlier of the two - they were a bit odd in the YG, though we did end up having a monster after hours in there once.

Suspected this one would be in Greater Manchester so had a look - historically Cheshire supposedly. The Wndmill in Carrington. Had some okay times in the past there but that night there was a bunch of fellas so keen to insist 'professional drivers and cyclists will never get on' and just keep prodding us for reactions.

I used to love the Yorkshire Grey, went there a lot in the late 90s...
Reminds me of when I first moved to Gloucestershire. A local farmer had dropped in, he was late and his explanation was "Got held up down over" I nodded like I had a fucking clue what he was talking about.
It was months later that I realised there is a place called Over near me and his sentence had actually made sense.
