Going to add to the chorus of nostalgia with the exception that I can't claim to have owned any of the OG stuff. Oh my god how badly I wanted it all though.
The only time I was suspended from school was having found a cache of paintballs in the local woods, I took them in and sold them to other kids. The school got plastered in orange green and yellow splodges. I was found out, and my mum called away from work to deal with me. She found me in town, in my usual haunt of the model shop by the bus stop having spend my meagre earnings on the 1988 (ish) Tamiya catalogue and an RC Car magazine. Jesus, I used to buy these things.
I had a couple of toys RC cars, and I loved them but never had the spending power to get the real thing. By the time I was able to actually earn money my focus had moved on to guitars and girls. I still hold a deep seated adolescent yearning for a Grasshopper, Hornet, Boomerang or whatever though.
