The rarest of beasts, non-flat Birmingham light ! Nice photos.

I’m more west than West Midlands but yeah ... “skies like living in Tupperware”

  • Anyone got any suggestions for somewhere that'll develop E6 film that isn't excruciatingly expensive? Probably a postal type thing, I'm based in Leeds.
Here's a couple of random ones from a recent roll anyway.

  • Yeah. Spectrum Photo Labs
    http://www.spectrumphotolabs.co.uk/ They also run e6processing.co.uk

Based in Plymouth. Not just cheap ... but also available on a phone and super knowledgeable and helpful in my experience.

With mailing rolls ... it usually pays to send bunch of rolls at a time... and pay for special delivery. It’s heart breaking if they go missing.

  • Love the bottom one.

  • Feeling very excited about developing some film at home, fingers crossed all the necessary bits have arrived, then I’m booked in to do an induction at a darkroom on Wednesday! Haven’t been this excited about photography in ages.

  • Thanks! Quite pleased with it considering it was shot from a moving train, ha ha.

I really need to get back into developing film, it's good fun and I've still got most of the gubbins. Just expect your whole house to stink of chemicals for a while.

  • Thanks for the recommendation!

  • Anyone used a Pentax lx before? Got a chance to pick one up for a decent price and like the look of it.

  • Yep my mate has one. Theyre great, super easy to use and have almost every feature you could think of

  • I took a really similar photo last week. Was using it as a test to see if a lens speck was going to give jip on the ETRSi I had bought.

a couple of others from the ETRSi

  • Love the 4th one!

  • 2nd last is absolutely spot on.

  • Yeah. 4th shot is awesome.

  • I like the plant and the end of terrace. Great light. What film?

  • Nice.
    Fourth is also my favourite!

  • Get the LX ! I've owned one for 1.5 years now, in my opinion its the best 35mm SLR i've owned/used (compared to the Nikons: F2, F3, FM2n, Canon: F1 & A1).

Just a superb camera, light, small and very easy to use - somewhat comparable to the Olympus OM-3/OM-4.

  • Decided to use them in the end, much cheaper than anywhere else!

  • Get the LX !

second this @GDCadam - if you can get one in good shape for a good price now is definitely the time

  • Cheers all. Film is Portra 160!

  • Just developed my first roll of B&W in many years. Do people reuse stop and fixer? I made up 1L of each and put into glass bottles, then realised that I probably won't need that much. The guide I was using said to reuse so I've put the "used" stop and fixer back in the diluted bottles.

  • Reuse stop, you get stuff that indicates when it's exhausted.

For fixer do a clearing test, drop a small clipping of unused film into the fixer and time how long it takes to "clear" I.e. become transparent. It becomes less effective over time and per batch.
