An M3 Double Stroke, 50mm Collapsible f2. £850 all in, seemed like a good deal considering the bodies alone almost go for that much. Apparently mechanically it's perfect, top cover is a bit beaten up. They're shut over Xmas/NYE so it's gonna be here in the new year.

Good to hear, many people have said the M3 is the best Leica of all time, I definitely do prefer that it's made in Germany considering my family come from around Wetzlar

You won’t regret buying an M3.

I also have an M3 and it is lovely to use. Don’t think I’ll ever sell it

I miss my M6. Teh regretz.
My A7S2 has some sensor alignment issue at the mo which probably means it's a gonner or a very expensive fix.

Well, day two in Kenya and the XH1 lost functionality of the D pad / menu ok button / back button / q button and AF selector.
Menu isn’t locked, replaced batteries, replaced SD cards, firmware is up to date. Really, really shit during such a trip.
Since I bought the XH1 with the grip, I could still manage to change some settings but all limited to the Q menu. Settings for video / tracking etc can’t be reached. I’m afraid it’ll have to be returned to Fuji as I literally just got it before I left.
The 100-400 is absolutely necessary during safari, I actually mostly used it together with the 1.4 extender.
Extremely happy I brought my XT2 as a back up. Otherwise I’d probably smashed the XH1 on the floor out of pure frustration. 🤓

That really sucks. The XT2 is a proper tank so you should be good.
Is the XH1 brand new?
-
• #2086
Yes, arrived one week before the trip. Functioned fine upon arrival and the first day in Kenya, then it sort of died.
The XH1 is actually more robust than the XT2. I really like the design and ergonomics of the XH1.
Batterygrip of the XT2 died as well during the trip. It already has some issues before that no matter what I tried and found online, wasn’t resolved. 16-55 is very nice to use, quite happy with that purchase, wouldn’t replace any of my primes . Haven’t used the 50-140 really so could have managed without.

That's so shit - sorry to hear that.

I've just got back from a few days in Krakow with the Xpro 3 - using the 35mm (equiv) the whole time.
Really starting to love that camera.

How'd you find the WD wireless passport? I was looking for something similar to save me taking a laptop when I travel but there seems to be a number of mixed reviews on that.

Im looking to upgrade from my OM10 film camera to something that a bit better, something a bit more powerful that gives a higher quality, sharper photo when I print picture bigger than 8x10" etc.
Been looking at a Contax G1. Any one got any experience with these or any other suggestions?

Anyone have any experience with cameras going back to Fuji for fixing? My XT100 started behaving as if the sensor was borked. The on screen menus and suchlike appeared, but no image, and no photographs :-(

Famously unreliable in the time when even the best ones (G2, hexar) are un repairable.
Excellent lenses though.
Buy with the thinking that you are ok to lose £££ once it dies.
Or get a leica m3 or m2. Expensive to buy but they hold their value and will outlive you.

Im looking to upgrade from my OM10 film camera to something that a bit better ...
Any of the single digit OMs will be an upgrade. It’s all 35mm though.
If you want to do bigger, more detailed prints from film really you want better scanning (I think wet scanning on a Flextight is still the ultimate but things may have changed). Slides (Velvia or Ektachrome) will enlarge with the least visible grain. If you’re doing darkroom printing then maybe slower film (Ektar, Delta 100 / Pan F), or bigger negs. Don’t forget developer types (and technique) for b&w vary hugely in grain size and acuity.
I’ve got totally satisfactory portraits from FP4 shot on a Mju II at A0. I can’t remember if that was wet scanned ... it probably was.

So far so good. It has a powerbank option but I wasn’t too impressed with that performance. Overall it works pretty straightforward, video playback (4K admittedly) lags a bit, 1080p no problem. I like the fact that even raw files can be shared and displayed onto your phone.

I want to spend 4-500 not 1.5k or more!!
Ive read good things about the lens though tbf....
The only thing that puts me off the contax is the fact its fully electronic etc.
I do like the look of it tho

Sony RX1 manual focus ring has stopped working, any suggestions on who/where could fix?
-
• #2099
Was very fast, totally fixed and the problem never reoccurred

Oh that is good to hear, thank you.
Good deal for a slightly beaten up but perfectly mechanically functional Leica M3 with a Summicron 50mm came up on WYC, solved my Rangefinder problem!
