I'd consider trying to get it snugly in one of the corners made by the uprights and platform of the rack - it should be more protected there and still give you the unobstructed beam. If you take the light position in the top picture, move the light towards the wheel, and back until the front of the light is flush with the front of the rack, it's where I mean.
Will need some custom bracket though ofc.
I need a bit of help and experience in finding where to attach lights.
I've got this B&M IQ-X but unsure whether I should attach it to the rack or to the cockpit. The former feels ideal but a rather risky location ; the latter could be obstructed by rack cargo and feels like a bodge, but at least it would seem safer... not sure what to think.
I've attached pictures of the two solutions below. For the rack mount, I'm not sure how I would actually attach it to the rack, so if you have recommendations there that would be smashing.
For the cockpit mount, I've got this GoPro mount I can use as a sort of décaleur but doesn't feel quite right, if you see what I mean.
