Anyone had any experience with these new "Vee Tyre Co" tyres that Planetx are selling now?

Just got some Conti Top Contact winter premium II in 700/35c (measures more like 32c on a 17mm ID rim).
Beautiful, light, supple, smells like real rubber, round, goes on and off with the right amount of difficulty, grips in <5c very nicely. Imagine they will be very fast wearing when the temp goes back up. Conti gives them 6 out of 7 for puncture proofness, and they feel like they weigh about 450g each? Pricey but if it even saves one slip in Jan/Feb ice time they'll pay for themselves IMO -

why is one variant cheaper than other? https://www.wiggle.co.uk/wtb-horizon-tcs-road-tyre/

Tanwall tax

is that it? dont care if so, need to replace my horizons ASAP
-
• #6757
I have never seen Horizons in non-tan version, guess it might be a glitch on wiggle.

They come in black

Anyone got any experience with Pirelli?
-
• #6760
Yes. Cinturato 32mm, excellent tyres.
-
• #6761
Looking at them online atm . Tweeks seem the cheapest.
-
• #6762
As above. Easiest tubeless tyres I’ve ever set up.

Thanks lads!
-
• #6764
Yeah excellent tyres, though they do get cut up by glass quite easily. Thankfully they're super easy to get on and off the rim.
-
• #6765
They do a black wall version too, marginally heavier than the tan wall.

What size are you after? will have a pair of 32s for sale after Saturdays ride.

Cheap and tubeless ready (although PlanetX don't allude to this)...

What do people recommend for 26" bikepacking tyres? Going to be in Patagonia, mix of on and off road. Currently have 26x2.35 big apples but they're not grippy enough off road if you run them with enough pressure so they don't feel terrible on the road...

I'll be after some P Zeros so 25-28s at a guess... thanks for the offer though!

Tubeless for the whole range?

Worth looking at something like marathon 365 if you’re going to be somewhere remote?
-
• #6772
It does make sense, I hate how marathons feel though. So sluggish.
Edit: Been convinced by Marathon Duremes from SJS after seeing them on a bike

Few rides, about 150km on GravelKing slicks (38mm) - two punctures on the front already. I am hoping its a case of the second one being caused by me not checking the tyre properly the first time around. If not, these aren't going to last too long for the commuter!

Many comments on here about the slick GKs not being the best. If running TL, I've just fitted pirelli cinturato velo tl for the city commute - so far so good, was able to fit them by hand and they come in a 35c flavour.

Supremes are not going to give you more grip than big apples though
Teravail are now doing their ramparts in 28 with gumwall.
