Was up near Penrith with friends for seeing in the New Year, & got out for a ride on New Years Eve before celebrations began - ending the year on a high (est paved road in the UK) up Great Dun Fell.
Was a pretty slow climb due to patches not getting daylight yet & being covered in ice. Couldn't get out of the saddle on the steepest bit for the wheel slipping! Worth the stress factor for the cracking views at the top. Much clearer than last time I was up there.
Also popped a bit further north & did Hartside pass. Quite alpine, & with a tailwind, so was lovely. Beautiful views on the descent with the sun setting behind the Lakes & views up to Dumfries & Galloway.
