• I bought this classic bike about 3-4 years ago from a nice fellow in Brixton. I wanted a touring bike with a more upright position and bought a frame with a shorter toptube length (which is about 51cm) and installed a Jack Jones H bar for a comfortable upright ride. I am 6 ft/1.80m however the guy I bought it from had it made for him-he was about 5.5ft/1.60m who had it in a more aggressive position.

I also took the forks to Winston Vaz in South London who built the Rough Stuff frames for Chas Roberts and asked him to put a new long stearing tube on the forks to achieve the upright position I was looking for. Further, I installed a new Chris King head set on the bike, a Thompson stem and a Tubus rack. I spent quite a lot of money on it and it has since seen little use.

The gears are trigger shifter Shimano XT, brakes are Mugura. Rest is Shimano Diore. I'll retain the peddles (everyone I meet thinks i'm crazy for preferring the shoe loops) and saddle and take them off when sold.

I had this listed elsewhere a but have taken down the adverts. I would like to sell the bike so I wont mess around a potential seller and will be frank, transparent and honest but would prefer not to sell my stuff at a loss. I'm not in a hurry to sell but have a 3 day window (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 9pm) otherwise I'll put the bike into storage. I work out of the country. If it doesn't sell, I'll just put it into storage again and relist maybe at Christmas.

Cash on collection from HA8 North London. Any questions on: 07816978810.

  • 🤔......

  • What happened to this being on eBay?

  • @edscoble this one of your projects from back in the day?!

  • I had this listed elsewhere a but have taken down the adverts

    why do you lie

  • You’d think, it was a Thorn, the OG roughstuff

  • Just took it down - sorry, not a lie, an oversight

  • I am back in London until the 2nd Jan. If anyone fancies it call me 07816078810

  • Humble question:given you do not want to sell at loss, do you really think you added value?

  • Humble answer: Value is perspectival in nature

  • I’d like the frame and forks but I suspect we’d not be able to agree on price.

  • Dibs headset spacers if splitting

  • I'm not really set up for splitting it up. I'm in and out of the country and my tools are either packed away of I have sold them. I'd rather just sell the lot.

  • If you get them and decided you didn't need them all, I'd be interested in the 9th one up.

  • Does the 9th one up include the silver one because I was specifically going to call dibs on that? If so I will concede that I was too slow and i’ll settle for just the cable outers if splitting.

  • He has loads on that steerer.

  • It's like a minivelo but with full size wheels

  • Oh yeah you right lol

  • I'm happy to stand aside for the silver one. Hope you get it. Pretty unique in the grand scheme of things.

  • "how many headset spacers do you need?"

  • I think there's a back and neck problem.

  • Hmmm, I sense a touch of ridicule.

Well, I think its a comfortable bike.

Anyway, I'm sure I can dig out an allen key to take off the stem, bars and rack and then I could do £1000...

    ...and that includes spacers.

If you are interested phone me on 07816978810 and pick up either tomorrow or 2nd Jan

  • The ridicule is due to the fact that, whilst value is indeed perspectival, your perspective of the bikes worth seems to be inflated by approximately £400 above what anyone in their right mind would pay for this. Realistically you’ll be quite lucky to get £800 even if you parted the bike out. Feel free to ignore that assessment though, however I would strongly urge you not to disclose your full phone number on a public forum!
