For daytime riding using one of the flash modes it’s nothing short of outstanding and I certainly wouldn’t say it’s too bright. I’ve been out with mine four times so far. A couple of those rides were with friends and any riders behind certainly weren’t blinded.
Riding at night is a different matter. We set off late afternoon a few Saturdays ago which then turned into a night ride. For night time riding yes I agree, in flash mode it was too bright. Instead, I just switched to the 33% steady light output mode and again there were no complaints from any riders behind.
It’s the perfect day or night light for the quiet lanes I ride on and drivers are well aware of my presence a long time before they actually need to pass. I’ll quite confidently say it’s one of the best cycling purchases I’ve made.
