So I eventually bought a trumpet last month on ebay and it's a bit battered and bondooloo. The good news is that I am really enjoying it. I've even taken to buzzing with my lips only when I'm walking about.
Would anyone have a trumpet in reasonable condition they're not using they could sell or lend. It's hard to tell if I'm hitting the correct notes on this thing.

I know it's not exactly what you're looking for but I could hook you up with a rusty trombone if you liked.

the embers of a classic thread lie glowing in the hearth, just needs a bit more kindling

Are you serious? If so, I might be able to help in February.

Hi yes, I'm pretty serious. Any help would be appreciated. If I do get something before then I'd let you know in case someone else could benefit but yes it's been a long standing desire of mine to learn to play.

Stand down. Classic thread averted.

Well I still have two at my folks in France (I'll go back in February). The beginner one is the Yamaha everyone bought at the time when they started, and that could go I guess. For something that belonged to a kid it was actually pretty well looked after.

Do you still play yourself?

No, I stopped when I moved to the UK, which was shortly after the band I played in split up. If I have one tip to give, it's find people to play with. If you like reggae there's plenty of classic tunes that are easy to learn by ear and play.

Anyone want to jam? So far I can play a pretty hot G and a somewhat shaky and shrill C. I'm waiting for my elderly neighbour to leave so I can practice a bit more today.

Does anyone have a beat up old trumpet they are willing to sell for cheap? Want to see if I'm really into it before I spend mucho dinero on one.
