Now that we're the freeholders for the block and as issuing our own lease extension, does this mean we can now cause offence to the Earl of Dartmouth?
-
• #29954
Not necessarily. The restrictive covenant might be binding on you as freeholder. Probably is.

Washer dryers.
Mines on the way out....
AEG and lasted 5 years. Would like one to last a similar or greater time and be easily serviced and repaired ? Miele? -

Miner's a Bosch and has been roundly abused for the last 7 years but is still going strong. Can't fault it so far.

Mines just crapping out after 5 years of abuse. London water. 2 loads a day.
Would like silence.

Bosch quality seems to have reduced. If space permits, get separate washer and dryer.
Miele are quiet but expensive. Samsung are worth a look.
I don't regret buying Miele but it's pretty much twice the price of the next best thing and probably not justifiable. Previous bottom of the range Bosch dishwasher lasted 14 years.

This is the quietest.

That looks amazing but a grand is not going to go down well...

I also like the look of Samsung and their bubble tech and the magnetic motors.

If you look on AO they have the decibel lever of each machine. If you want quiet you need less than 50db

Bosch quality seems to have reduced
Interested in why you say this as it's not my experience and it's not what Which? reckon either. I was reading the latest copy at my Dad's over Christmas and Bosch were most reliable for a lot of the white goods categories and therefore most reliable overall.

Bosch have magnetic motors on all but the cheapest, it's called "Ecosilence Drive".
I wish everything I owned worked as well and was as quiet as my Bosch washing machine.

I guess one bad machine has put me off the brand, so in no way scientific.
I always had Bosch white goods. Bought a washing machine and tumble dryer about 8 years ago. The washer was a magnetic motor one, and the tumble dryer a heat pump model.
The washing machine wasn't up to much right from the start. Clothes came out visibly less clean than our previous machine. It also had a tendency to build up bad smells and mould inside. The filter and pump tended to clog. Then the hinges on the door broke. I got the part on line and replaced. About a year later, the hinges broke again. I replaced again. Then the interlock on the door started playing up and I lost patience with it.
To be fair, the tumble dryer is still going strong.

Brilliant. I'll have a look in a bit and see what I can afford/tolerate.

Did someone on this thread mention having a load of moving boxes that they wanted rid of?
-

Hmm, sounds like you got very unlucky. Just checked and I bought mine four and a half years ago so maybe they got their act together in between. You can get Friday afternoon jobs from anyone though...

Its worth noting that in recent years the cheaper/lower spec Bosch white goods are manufactured in Spain and the more expensive stuff is still manufactured in Germany. This could explain it.
There is a pretty funny @General_Lucifer story about removing a wasps nest. Either way that is terrifying.
