Haha. First band name that popped into my head!

My expectation atm is "salvage operation" / "first-aider in war, after a huge disaster", so yeah...my expectations are lower a lot.
At least the folks up the hill are suddenly willing to play nicer now that the DUP has been made irrelevant in Westminster, and SF lost a lot of voteshare too.
But I can't wait (sarcasm on here yes) for the news of deportations of EU citizens in 2022 if they don't change that fecking SS law and NI slowly sliding back down again as it now loses the EU developing regions funding. Yey.
They don't care about us, never did. Only protest we have is to care ourselves/take care of ourselves, so better do that I guess.

And a Happy Christmas to you Ms J!
Still trying to rise above the depression of this country for one day - with turkey! -

Johnson is banning the word Brexit after 31st Jan, because it will have been 'done'.

Ah yes. Newspeak begins.

I’m with you. Handwringing, doubling down, pushing blame on everyone who disagrees with you. None of it is helpful and solves fuck all.
What is each and everyone of us going to do to make society and our communities better? Because we can’t rely on central government for this.
My boss at work has asked everyone to check in with colleagues before Christmas because it’s such a lonely or stressful time for people. Normal office chat “what are you doing for Christmas” has turned into something a lot more genuine and compassionate. It’s this sort of thing that reaffirms faith in people rather than putting up walls in despair.
Stoicism in action, focus on what you can control and shrug the rest of the shit off

Totally, but it does feel like having to apply that on the deck of the Titanic while it is going for the iceberg on some days :p
Anybody for another drink and dance...?

Happy Getting Brexit Done Day everyone....

God I dislike Rabb so much. He always looks not quite present, like he's thinking of his next opportunity to kill a dog.

This is going to now turn from farce into tragedy.
Oh wait, that's what a remoaner would say, enjoy your Wetherspoons pints all! ;)

I've avoid all news outlets since 22:01 on the 12/12 to the point that I don't even know what the final numbers were in the election. No TV news, no papers, apps deleted from my phone news alerts switched off etc. I just couldn't face seeing all those smug Tory's celebrating. I was just thinking it might be time to go back to my safe space, the Guardian but I'm going to have give it a few days yet aren't I.
Ignoring all this dreadful shit by operating a total media black out has really improved my mood because thinking about the implications of all this is just too depressing for words.

Yeah I am doing pretty much the same, it is just too much and energy sapping. Energy is going to be needed for other things.

What a relief.
The last four years have been a nightmare walking.
Now I can just enjoy the rest of my life watching with interest as almost everybody in this sad saga, in time, gets what they deserve. History, not written by a declining power will lay bare the bones.

So that’s it then. No way back. The open door to Europe will close and we will look to sell whatever it is we still make to the rest of the world.
We are not a world power and we have not been for 70 years. We punch above our weight but I cannot see how we can compete with the likes of China, India, Japan going forwards as they simply have too many resources to hand.
And on a personal level I feel stateless. I’ve always considered myself European and I hate (& fear) the little England mentality (I deliberately leave out wales and Scotland). -

There may yet be hope... "European associated Citizenship" might become a thing.

I like that idea a lot.

I admire your belief in karma.
I am sure history won't be kind, but it'd be nice if the instigators of all this can at least get a taste of disgrace and humilitation with added poverty while alive. Even just a taste will do... :)

This is slightly odd - four DUP MPs have signed a Conservative sponsored motion calling for Big Ben to chime on the moment the UK leaves the EU, despite the party voting against Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal...
DUP never disappoint as clowns atm ;)

This very much express my feeling too. I wasn’t even born here, I’m probably on a list somewhere in the home office to be sent back, at least the weather will be better!
Like the weird zen feeling after listening to too much joy division/insert miserablistband namehere
