  • .....presses 'buy'.

.... then immediately sends to top Swiss apothecary for reformulation

  • Will be a write off.

New car, suggestions welcome. I think petrol rather than diesel. Subaru Outback 3.0L was my first thought. Budget 3k.

BMW was 235PS and 500NM. Ideally something at these or more. It was nice to be able to overtake.

  • Other guy hasn't reported to his insurance yet. I called them just to try get it sorted swiftly. They were pretty unhelpful, and wanted me to give them all the details.

Admiral told me to use Auxillis, who have some interesting reviews. Who I wanted to avoid, but not sure on best approach now.

  • The H6 outback is only 206bhp and 282nm. Also 4WD makes a notable difference in terms of weight and transmission losses to the wheels so will feel a lot slower than your BMW.

Forester STI? Basically a 2.5 Impreza WRX running gear in an small SUV

  • The gen4 has the 245hp version with variable valve lift but is only available in auto.

Ukdm Legacy comes in 3.0r auto and 3.0 spec b manual, but sits slightly lower than the outback.

A lot less torque than the BMW, but will move pretty quick if you give them enough revs (also sweet h6 noise)

  • Maybe I should just get another 530d. It was a great wafting barge for lazy driving.

  • Yeah, depends what you are after really.

Having had both a Legacy Spec B and F11 5 series - the Legacy was a much better drivers car - far more involving and with better handling and much more character, but for stop start city driving or motorway miles the 5series was much better at wafting you along.

  • Welcome to the joy of being caught up in the 'claim' process. Also how it will ncrease your insurance premium for the next 5 years.

  • It was nice to be able to overtake.

Definitely an RS6 Avant then. Top bit of kit for overtaking. Bit more spendy to run than a 530d though.

  • RS6 avant is probably the only way to go

  • Can someone point me in the direction of a 3k rs6 avant? I'll take 2 of them

  • If you want something to match the torque of a 3 litre turbo-diesel then you're going to need a large capacity petrol turbo, or a very large NA petrol. I have trodden this path myself.

  • It was nice to be able to overtake.

    Definitely an RS6 Avant then.

    Caterhams are always an option...

  • Honda Jazz

  • Haha got there first

  • Spotted some nice cars on the spin from London to Holyhead today, m2 competition was the highlight

  • Can't see a blue badge

  • Got chatting to the owner, really nice chap, both of his legs were prosthetic.

  • Still need a badge.

  • Cool number plate in that case

  • There's a lotus specialist mechanic round the corner from me, see the Evoras quite a lot. really really nice in the flesh
