• Bought a Naim Mu-So a few months back and got a 3 month sub to tidal. That has ran out so have moved back to Spotify but the music doesn't sound as clean. Is it me being a wannabe audiophile or is there a real perceivable difference?

  • Parents have a Mu-so and went for Tidal.
We can tell a difference on some of the remastered tracks, but can't actually tell if they're better or just a little different 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • Yes and yes. Do not pass go, spend 200 quid on a second system, and in no time you'll be 'investing' in bass traps and listening to Steve reich. It happened to me.

  • There's a perceivable difference but for me it's just that the lower quality and potentially compressed files annoy me over a session of having the music on. Vinyl I can have on all day, badly compressed streamed music makes my ears hurt after an hour.

I'm pretty sure there's science to back it up but my research is done, I listen to and enjoy a lot more music now I'm taking care about the source and the quality.
