Christmas present for a friend: technical / interesting / outdoorsy corkscrew. Like if snowpeak made a corkscrew and it was £10.

Oh yeah. I had seen their wooden handle one and thought it to be a bit ostentatious but that black one is quite good.

He’s more of a function / technical apparel kind of guy though I reckon.

I know that it's a bit cliche but some of the new Victorinox Evo stuff would fit that bill.

A double hinged waiters friend is really the 'best' corkscrew.

I’d been looking at these - I imagine the cast handle and weirdness would be a hit, but I’m dubious of it’s function for every day opening, not just crumbly corks. He drinks funky natural wines that are rarely more than a year old.

I'm sure this has been answered a million times but what's the go to budget sharpening method for someone who has a couple of not very special knives they want to keep vaguely sharp enough to cut vegetables?

Doing a sharpening class with Kitchen Provisions next weekend. Any tips? Gonna take my (almost unused) double sided stone, all my knives and probably a couple of chisels from work.

There are knock-off versions on AliExpress for about a tenner if you want budget.

I didn't rate the knockoff one I bought. I got better results from a cheap two sided stone and a few youtube videos.

Fucked my hand up on the pillar drill today so unlikely I’ll be doing any sharpening for a bit 😐
