The right-wing press will admit nothing, ever. They will always point the finger at some other bogeyman, whether it's the EU/the Germans/immigrants/muslims/communists.

Further cuts in public spending, infrastructure and services will only further increase vote share in the regions worst hit by such measures, as has happened now.

The harm they cause only makes them stronger.

The super wealthy interests that are the Conservative's true constituency, that own them and the scum bag right-wing media will not relinquish control. They would have to be made to.
And as a country we are too far gone for that.

“Get Brexit done” is an excellent tool to use.

Implying it will be over, no need to talk about it anymore and put the focus back in the local community etc.

If Labour use that slogan as it’s very vague since it can mean 2nd referendum or even revoke A50, it would be a different story altogether.

Isn't the Italian parliamentary system and constition different?

The UK mess of the last 3.5 years would in no way fly in the Netherlands were I was born, neither voting wise nor constitutionally nor culturally.

Boris doesn't have to compromise anymore and has the power to remove checks and balances and there is Brexit.

I was impressed by the Italian parties working together to oust Salvini.

I guess nobody can say any longer Italian politics is "the worst" in the EU... :)

It is no surprise that counterparties are asking for certain concessions. In my opinion Labour really harmed its credibility by making the same mistake with the ‘secret NHS documents’

I can see why they did- it’s been treated as “UK dictates, forrins accept, or lose their economy”, the reality that for e.g. Japan is going to seek terms very much to their advantage and that we are going to be fairly desperate and with zero experience of trade negotiations has been either ignored or denied.

Christ - is Corbyn really going to carry on till March? He'll be destroyed at PMQs (which Johnson might bother to turn up for now).

I’d argue replacing him is already being done at haste and is being rushed through. Labour need to time to reflect and decide what they stand for before they elect a new leader.

Surely get an interim. Everything he does will be seen as tainted with failure and effectively means no realistic opposition. Not that there is much they can do, but Johnson will laugh at his failure whatever he brings up.

But they could have an interim leader. Harriet Harman was interim after Miliband stepped down. 3 months of a toxic dead duck is a nightmare.

I don't think JC should carry on as leader, or even be allowed to resign - he should be expelled from the party now.

Every single PMQ question will be about how he's failed at this election. Every single question to the Tories will be answered by how lame their leader is. Every media interview with a Tory on will concentrate entirely on how the opposition are lead by a loser. They'll still be allowed to carry on with their "But Mr Corbyn would...." responses.

He's a good man, but the party need to show some Tory-like mettle and unfortunately jettison him if he's not prepared to go.

Italian election system is way different. as a lot of italian things it is unclear and unpredictable. In Italy the brexit referendum would have never been allowed.
Italian parties ousted salvini to preserve their own existence, not to preserve the country (but that's politics). I think no matter what Boris thinks there are a lot of equilibria to be kept into account when brexit will be finalized and just few of them are discussed in Westminster

The tories are going to push through whatever they can while the public's relief in not having to engage with politics can be exploited. Now more than ever we need an opposition to call this out. Obviously they can still railroad it through but giving the tories completely free reign is not good for anyone.
TBH I don't care if they take six months to sort out the next permanent leader, but having Corbyn still in place for any longer just continues the damage.

This. The first 3 months are really critical for new govts. I believe they plan them heavily, and in this case it will include the withdrawal agreement. They're going to get a free pass on it all - it's a gift.

Everything to do with the withdrawal agreement in particular will be responded to referencing how Corbyn couldn't make his mind up.
