  • I run 23mm tyres on my Planet X Pro Carbon and my PDWs won't fit. I need more of a split design like the SKS raceblade long. Is there anything else that I should be looking at?

  • I'm looking to get some 650b guards over my 42mm Paselas - I've got some 700c GB at the moment which have a couple of cracks/creases in them and the fit just isnt great...

Should I go ahead and get another set of GB 650b x 50mm, or is there a big reason to go for the VO Zeppelin 52mms for 30 quid more?

  • Can someone please link @amey to that image of someone who made a light bracket into a mudguard mount on the ST just above the BB cluster

  • thats genius

  • That photo is fucking with my head and the others in the link didn't help...I was like, where has the driveside chainstay gone?!

    Had to search this out..

I'd never seen an estay bike with only the drive side stay elevated before.

  • Solves your issue, and then just p-clip the top

  • Steel mudguards were rattling on the seat stays; 2×1cm lengths of 3mm PVC hose slitted lengthways & slid over rolled mudguard edge→silence. Apologies for repeated posts and absence of picture, something went weird.

  • Got new wheels / tyres on the winter bike and I think they allow more volume in the tyre so now I've spent a couple of hours trying to fettle my SKS chromoplastics so they have enough clearance around the rear caliper (they were a tight but solid clearance with the old wheelset). After failing at the nth attempt then swearing and storming off I thought I would seek views...

So my question is this - are PDW guards better for tighter clearances than SKS? They seem to have less side coverage which might create a bit more wriggle room maybe - and stiffer so might need less faffing with curvature... anyone with any experience of both who could help?

    (700c wheels and 25mm tyres)

  • You might have more luck with an image hosting site like imgur

  • Just chop or file a section out of your SKS guards where it touches the brake caliper.

  • Anyone know what mudguards fit a Liv Avail advanced disc from 2018? There’s drillings in the rear dropouts but no brake bridge or drilling by the BB... Front has a full set

  • Giant Speedshield?

  • Kind of resigned to those or raceblades. It's annoying as the bike was sold as being mudguard compatible, and muggins here has to clean it after my wife rides it through London and Kentish mush

  • I had some success with an array of 4 cable ties in a similar situation:

It worked on that guard then I moved to 35mm sks and did it again and that's still going strong too.

  • Hello knowledgeable people,
My raceblade longs have arrived and stock flaps appear rivited on. I want to put my RAW flaps on.
Forum approved method for stock flap removal? Drill?

  • I’d drill ‘em

  • Nice one! Will give that a shot!

  • Yep, go slow and stop once you've removed the rivet head unless you want a bigger hole.

  • Anyone have any pics of a bike with massive mudguards (50mm+) with 32mm tyres? I want to see just how crap it might look.

  • PDW The Beast. 47c on 650b. Liking them so far, rattlefree!
